Hi there,
digging into my grandpas old stuff, i found an envelope of batman decals . Its dated 1944 and there are 2 sheets in there... Can anyone give me more information on this ?? This message has been edited. Last edited by: eshegg, |

I'm not sure, but I would assume it was a mail-in premium because of the "Here They Are!" at the top. Also, the "Big 10 Cent Value" implies that it wasn't something that was paid for. I doubt that would be there if it was intended to be sold in a store.

eshegg - Wow....have you got a find there! Those transfers are "the first known nonpremium Batman collectible other than the comics themselves. Featuring 19 transfers including Batman, Robin, the Joker, the Penguin, the Batman logo and more, a near-mint set would fetch $1,500 according to Hake."
Source: Toy Collector Magazine A set of these sold via a Hake's auction about 1-1/2 years ago for $460.00. I found a site that "reversed the picture & tweaked the contrast to give you an idea what the images look like." Here's the image: You have what's believed to be the first Batman "nonpremium" outside of the comics! Congratulations on a great discovery! |
