Anyone have a Topps Chronicles checklist?

In 2005, Topps had Topps Chronicles cards which were issued weekly and were of topics of current events.

I liked these cards, but I don't think most collectors got into them, so Topps did not make them for that long, maybe 1 year.

Does anyone have a checklist to what cards were issued? I myself had bought only about 11 of them.

I checked the price guides as well as Jeff Allender's checklist site, but I do not see a checklist for these cards.

If no one has a complete checklist, we can start one and try to fill in the blanks if enough Card Talkers purchased at least some of the cards.

Thoughts?

Here are what they looked like:

The highest number card that I have is 48. I am not sure if they made it to 52 or not.

Mike.

Trading Card Hobbyist

shows a few more cards and gives some more info about the set.

There's also a Nich Lachey/Jessica Simpson card on eBay entitled Newly Done but it gives no date in the auction.

OWM,

Thanks - I found that article earlier today, but still no checklist.

I do have the Lachey/Simpson card as well, I just did not scan the second page of these (only 2 more cards) which is where that one was... Smile

Well then I guess the next thing to do is create the checklist with blanks so people can help fill in. I found another
2005 TOPPS CHRONICLES APRIL 21, 2005 POPE BENEDICT XVI (least this one has the date)

I've got the following:

TC10. Taste of Freedom - Martha Stewart released from prison.

TC20. Final Episode - George Lucas and Darth Vader holding hands on the red carpet.

TC44. Civil Rights Icon - Rosa Parks

Thanks for compiling this. I've been thinking about this set as of late and maybe going back and pursuing it.

If I recall correctly, Topps also had an album that was exclusive to those who bought the year's set in advance.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the info. Can you list the dates of the cards too please? There is a TC44 on Ebay, but I cannot fully read the date. Is it October 31, 2005?

I recall Topps offering some incentive for a person to subscribe for a full year, but I just cannot recall the details. You might be right on the binder.

Thanks.

Mike.

Thanks, the seller confirmed the information.

Most sellers have been real responsive in providing information on these...

This is TC2 or TC3... but I dont have a copy of the card or date :

"[Mahmoud] Abbas Wins Palestinian Election," recognizing the Jan. 9 election of Yasser Arafat's successor to lead the Palestinian Authority.

TC12, but once again, no picture :
"Death Sentence" screams the side featuring Peterson, who was sentenced on March 16 for the murder of his wife and unborn child. "Freedom!" howls the flipside featuring Robert Blake, who was acquitted that same day of murder in his wife's killing.

2005 TOPPS CHRONICLES COMPLETE SET IN HAND WITH UNOPENED CUSTOM BINDER!

This auction is for a complete 52 card 2005 TOPPS CHRONICLES set. The 2005 CHRONICLES set has some of the lowest print runs of any Topps set. It is rumored that as few as 20 complete sets exist in the entire world. You will get every card in the set all in one shot , and the cards are already in my possession and they are all in the original shipped condition and have never been removed from their toploaders. The set also includes the custom set binder which has never been opened and was available ONLY if you prebought the entire set in January 2005.
is a list of the cards:

This set was built carefully and painstakingly over time with attention to condition and to detail (it is my personal set) thus ensuring that you will get cards in FANTASTIC condition as most of them have not been handled at all.... this set will grade VERY high through any major grading company.

If nobody beats me to it, I'll write a complete checklist later today or tomorrow. I bought the whole set month by month. I believe there were two times in which Topps published two Chronicles cards in the same week.

Thank you for the checklist! That is great...

Do you mind if I submit it to Jeff Allender for inclusion on his checklist site? Of course, I would credit you for putting the list together.

There is also a PE1 for the Election in November 2004. While I think it was the only pre-Chronicles release card done by Topps, I think it was the planned Chronicles series that made this card appear. What does everyone think? Should this card be included with Topps Chronicles?

Mike.

Mike-
Of course you may. That's what Jeff's site is all about.

I'd like to see good scans of both the obverse and reverse sides of PE1. Does it say Topps Chronicles on the reverse? I don't remember how this card was released and I also don't recall Lax Chandra, the Topps spokesman, mentioning this card in my conversation with him originally. Perhaps we should consider PE1 as a prototype.

I believe, from Topps' standpoint, Chronicles became an irritant because the rewards had not been of equal exchange with the resources -- human and production-wise -- devoted to it.

Scott,

The card does not say Chronicles anywhere on it, but by the time this card was made available, Chronicles must have been advertised. A prototype might be an appropriate term.

Here are scan of the front and back of the card:

Front:

Back:

This card has nearly a foil-like high gloss finish to it which is different than the Chronicle cards as well.

Thanks.

Mike.
