As much as I have always kept my Buffy promos separate from the rest of my promo collection, I'd never got around to itemise thwem until last night. Holy Cow! I was stunned to find out that up to and including Memories (2006) there has been (by my count) 153 different Buffy promo cards!! Granted this counts the Sky set as 7 and the CCG set as 10 but just the same, it's an awesome amount to collect and I suspect should easily surpass any other card set.
Although I own around 80 of them I have noticed that in one area I have never even seen on Ebay let alone own any of the Box Loader (BL1-2-3) & Case Loader (CL1) cards for the five latest sets. Do you guys feel that they are promos or inserts? Certainly the first four seasons had them. Sadly I bid and won on Ebay recently what was advertised as a Story So Far promo B-1. When it arrived I checked it against Jeff's list to discover that it is an insert card. Live and learn I suppose!

153 cards! Eek I have all of those but never realised that there was that many.

IMO Case Loader's and Box Loader's are only promos if they are promoting something (like in the first 4 sets). Otherwise they are just regular chase cards, or even box/case incentive cards.

No only in your view but in the view of Inkworks the Manufacturer.

If you look at the Inkworks official checklists, there is a spot for chase cards and a separate spot for promo cards. Box loaders and case loaders are not promo cards.

There were 42 different promos for the CCG - 10 for each of the first three sets, 1 for the unreleased fourth set plus 11 other cards used as tournament prizes, attendance incentives, etc.

Plus there's also the 15 "Preview Cards" that were included in booster packs to promote future sets and 8 regular versions of the Ultra-rare cards that were available through the mail-in offers.

I consider the "Preview Cards" in the CCG expansions to be part of the set in which they were packaged. Wavey

A data base of what? Buffy cards? Good luck! Before you even start there's no agreement as to what is an what isn't a Buffy promo! Oh it's fun to be different but a little agreement from other collectors would be good sometimes!
BTW apropos to our little Star Wars 3D Italian Ebayer, I think I will take a leaf out of his book and call myself a "collectionist" from now on, it's got a nice ring about it. and while we are on that subject, and in this vein, shouldn't Todd's new book be called a "collectionary"???

Chris, if you've got the time - I'd be interested in seeing what you can do.

I can also try to help you out with images also.

Chris,

I would be interested. I have just about all (if not all) of the Buffy Non-Sport (not CCG)promos, so I could help with images. I have some of the CCG stuff, but probably not all of the promos. I will have to look. Please let me know what images you are looking for.

Tim

OK, well I'm going to start setting the site up this week.

THANKS SO MUCH for those who are interested.I'm going to need ALL promos EXCEPT the WOS ones, lol. I am going to try and make a nice site with a nice Buffy header as well as some navigation.... not sure how that is going to sit with about 15 ish sets....

I'm thinking maybe a drop down menu, or maybe the 7 seasons the other and then a drop down menu.... i'll have to do a little reasearch Big Grin Big Grin

I will post again when I have the script ready for the navigation and the gallery Smile

You guys are aware that this was all done before, right? BCW had an incredible site for Buffy card collectors with just about everything listed. Last I heard, though, I think it was taken down but I am not positive. I'm pretty sure that he had all the promos listed.

As Harris said, that site does appear to have been taken down, but you can still see most (if not all) of it on the Internet Archive HERE

There is also my decidedly more humble gallery HERE which has a lot of the promos (up to MOS - hopefully I'll get to add the 10th Anniversary cards later!) which you are welcome to use if you wish - though they are small images (150 pixels at the longest edge)
