I remember buying this Image Comics set by Topps when it was released in early 1994. It took me a few years to find the foil card # 5 which came 1 per case.

A few questions about it:

1) Was the foil # 5 actually 1 per case or was there a redemption card for it ? If the latter, does anyone have a picture of the redemption card ?

2) Wasn't there also a redemption card for a Sam Keith auto ? Does anyone have a scan of either ? Or was the auto in the packs ?

according to Jeff's sight (and i have no idea why I don't have these, The Maxx is one of my all time favorite characters )

the set from Topps has:

base set: 90 cards
foil set: 6 cards
#1-4 where in packs (1:18)
#5 was by redemption card
#6 was a sort of promo card in Wizard and at Cons

Sam Kieth Auto card was also by Redemption card

as well as 2 unnumbered promos, 1 numbered promo (#2), and an oversized promo card

If I remember tonight, I'll try to dig out the Auto redemption card and scan it. It said you could only redeem it the US and, not knowing any better at the time, I never sent it in.

Thanks. I wonder what card they sent you if you sent in the redemption ? A signed common card or an exclusive card ? Has anyone ever seen the actual auto ?

Come to think of it, you don't see the foil card # 5 very often, at least I haven't. I have only seen one once, and it went for $ 100. It doesn't look much different from foil cards # 1-4 or 6-- it just depicts the villain (whatever his name is). It is not enhanced, nor is it any more spectacular than the other chase cards in the set. Yet it is much tougher to find than the others.

The auto redemption was just a common card from the set with Keiths signature on it...the one my buddy got was quite a disappointment...

While I'm sure I would have been happy to get a signed base card at the time, now I'm glad I didn't/couldn't send it in.

The other five foils (#1,2,3,4 and especially #6) are so common, that you can get them on the auction sites for $ 1 or 2. Good luck trying to find # 5, however. I remember being very frustrated at the time when the set came out that # 5 was only available 1 per case. It was (and still remains) tough to find, as how many dealers or comic stores really bought a ton of boxes of THE MAXX ?

Does anyone know for certain if foil #5 came in the packs or if there was a redemption card for it ? I seem to recall that the latter was what was inserted. Anyone have a scan of the card you were to send in for the foil ? I think it was green and black, for some reason.
