Just had a look on fleebay at the Top searches in Trading cards/CCG and they are as follows:

1) Pokemon Cards
2) Pokemon
3) Doctor Who
4) Yu gi oh
5) Dr Who
6) Yugioh
7) Star Wars
8) Charizard
9) Dr Who cards
10) Pokemon ex

Just a couple of points:

1) Surely Dr Who & Doctor who are the same thing (same with Yu gi oh & yugioh)

2) Its a shame - but not suprising that the list is pretty much full of game cards.

I just wanted to know if, when you use this auctuion site, how do you search?

I just put in trading cards

Just a bit of a random ramble from me Smile

What's even worse is trying to find a category to sell your cards in . You have to include as many hot button words as possible hoping they show up in as many searches as possible .

Unlike ebay.co.uk, on ebay.com Trading Cards and CCGs are in completely different areas, with the first under collectibles and the second under toys/games. I can't figure out how to check for the top-ten popular searches, or I'd post the different results. Obviously the UK site is dominated by the CCG interests!

I default to a search within Trading Cards, with the box ticked to show worldwide auctions. I use a bunch of wildcard * symbols to find misspelled words and names, and a lot of multi-item groups and exclusions. For one example of a complicated search, if I was looking for an Indiana Jones Crystal Skull sketch by either Jim Kyle or Leah Mangue, I might enter:
... indiana -heritage (kyle,mang*) -babb*

Thereby I'll exclude Indy Heritage, find items where somebody mispelled Leah's surname, and skip Kyle Babbitt.

If I wanted prop card P3 from Harry Potter in 3D 2nd edition, I could try:
... potter (3d,3 d,world) (2nd,2,ii,two,second) p3 -promo

I do pretty much the same thing as Jeff (allender) with two types of 'favourites'. The first is my standard check out what's new searches (various comic cards, sketch cards etc). This is about 3 different searches that I run most days.

The second group are 'email notification' type searcher that are set up for particular cards on my want list. Those are much narrower and there's about 15 of them.
