So I sold 2 cards on ebay (total a little over 60.00).. Seller paid after almost 3 weeks then day after I ship card out the transaction is fronzen and money is not available while paypal investigates (for the safety of buyer they say).. Now looks like transaction has been reversed (or so the dispute says) and money will be going back to buyer.. Now said buyer is no longer a registered user of ebay Confused

My thing is that this buyer is overseas, I am currently dealing with an overseas seller who ripped me off(won't mention names as I know they stop by here). And to really go after them you not only have to deal with the postal service but also with federal authorities as it's international mail fraud..

Is it worth the time to go through all the trouble again (think all that came out of first one is the dealer was redflagged) .. I think part of the problem may be that people can get away with this without challange..

Either way as I sell off the rest of my collection I know it will cost me a LOT but I don't think I'm going to offer overseas sales anymore Shake Head

Odd that you mention this Jim, as I had a transaction for the PW-5 Lace Variant put on hold. It's been over a week so I wrote our friends at PAYPAL and their reply was that the case could take up to a month to process.

I have a second buyer lined-up and they have already paid for the card. Needless to say while it's nice that PAYPAL is doing this, they could move at a faster pace.

From the sounds of it, you didn't have a tracking number nor did you ship to a confirmed address?

No I only charged 3.00 shipping to australia and buyer had 200 transactions with 100% positive feedback so I just shipped regular Mad

It urks me more because when I complained about the dealer ripping me off they told me that it was to late (they strung me along and wouldn't answer emails till day after 30 days was up)...And ebay sided with them because they sold more then me at the time Shake Head BEST part is after I complained they blocked me from buying from them as did about 12 other UK ebay IDs at the same time so either it was all their IDs or their friends (which has saved me a lot of money in the long run)..

Paypal truely sucks. They are expecting me to send out & provide tracking info for over £1000 worth of auctions while my account is frozen. I've told them I am not sending anything until I get my money, as I don't trust them with it.

Luckily the buyers understand, and I have referred them all to PayPal to complain.

Its the problem with shipping overseas from america. Ill be honest, unless its an item they will pay 15 dollars shipping on to send registered mail, its just not worth selling anything overseas using paypal.

Just so you are aware, Paypal has made an official policy change: To qualify for paypal's sellers protection they only accept Priority Mail shipping with online tracking (does not include flat rate envelopes) and Express mail shipping. Registered mail does you no good.

Is that Priority for all shipments, U.S. and overseas, or just overseas? What other forms of payment are available so that a seller receives U.S. funds from an international buyer?

I've stopped offering international shipping for almost all of my auctions, due to the cost of shipping and the lack of protection when using PayPal.

Jim, have you tried calling PayPal? The toll-free number is 1-888-221-1161.

Only for International shipping. All domestic shipping has to have delivery confirmation if under $250 or Signature confirmation if over $250.00

First off, all sellers on ebay should sell and ship internationally. If you have felt there was lack of protection when using Paypal you were misinformed.

When you ship Internationally the sellers protection policy is very clear. You must ship using Priority mail shipping with tracking (This is not the flat rate envelope because there is no tracking on it) or Express mail.

Now, the cost is expensive. Get this, UP TO One pound by priority mail is $24.00 and Express mail is $26.00.

It all also depends upon what you sell. In the past month I have shipped 10 packages by Express mail to all over the world and the cost of the auction winnings ranged from $100 - $1,000.

Paypal, US Payable Money orders and US cash. The sellers protection only matters when the buyer uses paypal.

Am i understanding this right?

If you sold me a $1 card and you wanted paypal protection for the transaction the total cost would be $25.

It not only depends upon what you sell, but how much risk you're willing to incur. I don't think there are too many international buyers who will want to pay $24 or $26 to ship a $10 card. Even though the value may be low and could be shipped First Class International, I still don't want to take the chance of losing the card and having to issue a refund. In my mind, it makes sense to limit international shipping only to those items which might be worth a bit more and justify the cost of Priority or Express Mail.

Now, if I could specify lower-cost shipping options for international buyers who pay via US-payable money orders or US cash, I'd be interested in doing that.

No I had a lawyer friend contact them as I'm tired of their monopoly on this I don't sell cards over 100.00(barely ever over 20.00) and with them taking out ebay fees then paypal fees it's really not worth it at all anymore.. I unloaded the majority of my collection the last month to get out of the hobby and now owe ebay over 200.00 when my auctions didn't sell for a whole lot more..

Well payment was reversed and all I got was 1 email saying payment was reveresed NO EXPLENATION and no answer to 5 previous emails now I am out the money and the cards. Losing this much just sucks all interest in cards out of you(the little you had left)..

I am probably filing charges on this and if I do am listing paypal as well as buyer as the theives..

YES!!! If the sellers wants the paypal protection the cost would be $25.

But as kbmum states below all sellers need to take a look at what is more important, The protection, the sale, everything.

Seller told me this was all paypal and they had nothing to do with it. I have contacted paypal 9 times now and got NO answer as to why it was reversed. I have a meeting with the head of our post office on what route I can take including if I can file international mail fraud charges..

Surely there has to be an easier way to do it, if i have to sell something online i will sell the item and send it international signed for if its outside the UK which isnt expensive.

I dont understand why there isnt a cheaper way to send something outside the US to europe, im not willing to buy something thats say $50 then pay another $24 on top, its just too much!

That is the way the postal system here in the states works.

And just like ebay who raises their fees every year, the postal service announced that every year during the month of May, they will increase the price of shipping.

Another part of the problem is if you actually try charging anywhere near what it costs for international shipping then the buyers leave low DSR ratings. I've been trying to attain powerseller status and one of the reasons I haven't been able to is my DSR rating for shipping and handling charges was too low. I was getting low scores even though most items shipped at a loss. I finally gave up and now incorporate all my expenses into the list price and offer free shipping.

It's against Ebay policy to except cash. If you put it in your listing and they catch it they will end the listing.

when I sold off 90 percent of my collection a few months ago I became a power seller.. This is my favorite..
as a power seller you are allowed at least 4 violations in 2 months

• Bronze
4 violations in a 60-day period
• Silver/Gold 5 violations in a 60-day period
• Platinum 6 violations in a 60-day period
• Titanium 7 violations in a 60-day period
