just been given a series of autographs that are believed to be Disney animators - possibly ...

2 appear on Disney postcard, the others just on card

autos are very 'flowery' so animators is not too much of a stretch - but I really don't know anything about them.

I can't get anything like a name from any of them,
does anyone recognise any of them at all?

Smile

How long ago did you get these or when/how do you suppose they might have been originally issued. They will be likely be hard to date without some sort of accompanying material (postmark, letter, etc.) because Disney doesn't usually put copyright dates on their collectible items (or movies on Video & DVD for that matter), I guess to give them an ageless feel.

A good place to start would be googling "Disney's Nine Old Men", famous animators from the early days of the studio, and finding their signatures, perhaps on original concept art, or limited edition prints in some cases (the guys who lived longer). They have all passed away now, but the last 2 of them, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnson remained active onto the 2000's. That could be Ollie's signature toward the bottom of your picture, and that would be a great one. Frank & Ollie's lifelong friendship was esubjectwere the swkw.

Two other places to look into for a signature match would be those on the Disney Treasures Sketch cards released between 2003-2004. Try the superb TraderCracks site for a look at some cards to see if signatures match. I believe those 54 cards (spread over 4 series) had contributions from about 40 different Disney Artists, and most were signed.

Finally, check into some of the modern Pixar animators, a lot of whom started off working on 2D Disney animation, so maybe some of them signed these cards.

No matter who signed it, it's a neat item. Good luck decipherin'!
