Went to see The Specials last night at the Brixton Academy. AWESOME! I've been waiting for them to reform for years (I was too young first time around to go a see them). They sounded brill and the place was buzzing!

When I saw that you'd posted, I knew it'd be The Specials.

Definitely THE hot ticket of the year. Wish I could have gone - every review is just awesome.

Time to dig out those old records !

In a similar vein, Secret Affair are playing together again too. It's 1979 all over again !

I was going but sold my ticket, i decided to boycott after reading the Jerry interview in Q. Would like to have seen linvoy and the gang...i went to the mandela concert which was an iffy concert, but was my 7 years olds first concert and she wanted to see leona, the only two reasons i went was mandela and the singing of Free Nelson Mandela.

So back to topic best gigs ever ... bit like cards but depends on the age you actually are...

Bar none AND THE WINNER IS ...Oasis Main Road - Awsome / Magic

Stone Roses - Ally Pally, was at the front so was fantastic, everyone else at the back thought it was **** though

Stone Roses - International - amazing !!

Happy Monday - Hacienda - i cant remember a thing other than beeing there !!

Stone Roses - Blackpool - Browns a legend

Happy Mondays in Hammersmith

Tears for Fears Wembley - pretty good actually

Queen kind of magic and U2 the lemon concert wernt my cup of tea but i went and actually the concerts were great

Glastonbury - Oasis / Pulp etc etc

Morrisey at the roundhouse

Oasis last year at the roundhouse was pretty good

Floyd - Reason tour - cant remember where i saw them - that was fantastic

Oasis after Knebworth up to roundhouse have been terrible - only for the money..probably saw them 10+ times in that period, and they were bad. That said newbies thought they rocked

New Order - manchester were great

duran duran in new york on decade tour - day of toy fair - was good !

Charlatans in docklands were also great

Jackson / Michael in 86 the pepsi tour at wembley - he was awesome

Prodigy in hammersmith was loud and i mean loud, they blew the systems and were off stage for an hour with a near riot ensuing.

i could go on and on and on and on.....

went with my 7 year old to Girls aloud and she loved that !!!! In June seeeing the Jonas Brothers with my 6 and 7 year old as well !! Might as well get them into music young thats my motto.

oh and LIVE 8 ONLY and i mean ONLY to see Floyd one last time, and it really will only ever be one last time now. people were crying who knew them, and people were quizzical who didnt understand the significance.

That said people were crying at reading in 92 when the roses last ever gig was on with the dreadfull performance...

The Specials were just spot on! More of an event than a gig. I've never seen a band so in sync with one another. I usually find that the band is too loud and you struggle to hear the vocals, but you could make out every word that Terry Hall and Neville were singing.

I think Gangsters was the third in the set and the place just went mad.

Mine would be seeing Wings at Wembley Arena in October 1976 when they did their Wings over the World tour and also seeing at Wembley around the same time the Eagles in what I think was termed as their Hotel California tour. Both were in mid week and sent me home with my ears ringin'.

I would say my best two concerts were:

(1) Paul McCartney on his "Back in the US" tour. Had floor seats, and spent almost the whole show on our feet, singing and dancing!

(2) Eagles Reunion Tour. Great to have the band back together again, sounding like they had not been on "a 14-year vacation."

Been to plenty of other great shows, but those two stand out as the best.

A few years ago, we went to see Davy Jones (Monkees)....in a local school parking lot! Apparently, he and the town mayor are friends, so she talked him into doing an outdoor show in the parking lot of the school. Admission was $5.00/person and you had to bring your own chair. We got there fairly early and got a good spot. I'll give Davy Jones credit; he put on a GREAT show for over 1-1/2 hours! Then, he stuck around to sign autographs, of which I was able to get one.
