There are several more Donruss AMERICANA promos out there ! I have now seen Burt Reynolds and Amanda Beard that say "promo" on the backs

In addition, Donruss revealed at the Philly show that they produced a limited Wayne Newton promo, which was accidentally given out at some unknown show. Reportedly, all others have been destroyed.

I still don't have the Stacy Keibler promo. Frown

David,

Thanks for the info. More to find. I doubt we will find the Newton promo any time soon and that Keibler one is going to be tough to find although one was given as a raffle prize at the Card Talk Breakfast...

Donruss is relatively serious about destroying overstock on exclusive promos. Tons of exclusive Philly Americana promos were brought back for destruction. That is not to imply that NSU was not given some extra promos when the show ended. When a show is over they don't want to have any inventory on hand in order to keep it exclusive. On the flip side Donruss is very liberal with the distribution during the show.

Yes, tons of Stacy Keibler promos have been destroyed in like manner according to Scott from Donruss. Frown

So, the real message here is: Get as many promos as you can when you see them so that you can trade them away for the ones you will never get otherwise!

I find that very disturbing that they would destroy all those promos . I'm not a promo collector myself aside from a few things but there's a lot of serious promo collectors out there who don't have the means , money , or time to attend the shows where these cards are given out . I'm of the opinion that they could have given the leftover promos to the show's producers to distribute to promo collectors as they see fit .

A few leaked out at the National. It happens. Sometimes the manufacturer, in haste, will put the wrong promo out on their table. The card shows a young Wayne Newton strumming a banjo.

No, I don't have one. Shake Head

Donruss' intent is not to have any in their own possession for distribution at the end of the show otherwise "show exclusive" means nothing. That does not mean that there is not an abundance of them out there, having been given out very liberally during the show.

I think that is the way all show exclusives should be done and any other exclusive for that matter.

Then why not give them to the dealers who participated in the show to give to their clients who may not have been able to attend .
Seems a waste of cards to me .

Yes i agree with that. X amount of the exclusive card should be made for the show and none taken home except by dealers and collectors who were there.

There should be no need to destroy any as there would be none left.

Wolfie, I hate to disagree with you, but I was at Allentown at the end of the show and I saw how many promos Donruss had left that they planned on destroying. It would make you cry!

And they were very generous with the cards during the show.

Mike.

Would they have given them to everyone if they had asked for loads rather than destroy them?

Yes - in fact, on the first day, first thing in the morning, they were begging attendees to take lots so they wouldn't have any left at the end of the show. My problem with grabbing handfuls is that I wanted to make sure there were enough for everyone. I wasn't there late on Sunday, or I would have taken what was left (if they would have let me).

Wolfie, not sure. I was busy packing up my own table, but went to say good-byes to some people and that is when I saw what Donruss had left, but they had already packaged them up. I didn't feel right asking for them at that time. Maybe if I had been a bit earlier. I know NSU got some of them, but there were lots left.

Tim, I got what I could early on too, but tried not to make myself seen as a promo hog. Looking back, I wish I had taken more than I did though, especially the non show exclusive promos. Those were more limited in quantity (Debbie Reynolds, Cedric the Entertainer, and one of the Mickey Rooney's).

Any dealer at the show had that opportunity for the taking. I got enough, no problem, for everyone who asked me to remember them. I went to a local show this weekend attended by two of the Allentown dealers. I only went through one of the dealer's promo books but the show promos were in there in quantity. (The other dealer told me in advance that he had nothing new in his books that I had not already seen)

Here is a scan of the card that most of us will never be able to find - Wayne Newton promo. Not distributed, but a few leaked out.

The image was provided by Donruss to Bill DeFranzo.

I was just told by Donruss today that the Jack Hanna promo is going to be another hard one to get... Not sure why or where it was distributed (if it was)..
