The problem with the shows in the UK is that dealers continually bring the same NEW stuff show after show.
You would be hard pressed at Memorabilia to find a dealer with anything on his stall older than the last five years.
I want to buy old promo cards and old sell sheets but all anyone has are the latest releases. Every dealer has the same things table after table.
If by chance a dealer does get an old set or something they then charge so much for it that no one will buy it.
People tend to joke with me that i don,t buy anything at shows but it is because i can,t find anything to buy that i want.

A dealer from the USA selling older stuff would have the market to themselves at a UK show but the cost of them getting here prohibits it happening and so back to Ebay i have to go.

I don,t want to sound too negative about our shows as i like going to them but them is the facts. Frown

I had a chat with a dealer at the last Camden show about a card he didn't know I had.I was just curious about the price - £250 - which is about £200 higher than the average Ebay.He said that there would be someone about that would pay the price. The card is at least 6 years old and it makes you wonder how well dealers do if they can hold on to something that could be cash in their pocket at a lesser price.

When I lived in Harrisburg, I went to all the shows. Now back in Florida, it's much more difficult and expensive. There's airfair to add plus the extra time factor, and when teaching, I just can't get the time off. September and October are out because of Halloween. It sux! But I plan to go again the first oppertunity. I had great fun at each show I went too and it was well worth it. If you haven't gone to a show, then you're really cheating yourself. Everyone should at least go to ONE so they know what they are missing. (That makes it more painful to miss them though!)

My big issue is that I'm no where near any kind of shows. I have to fly everywhere. I'm not rich, and can't aford expensive plane tickets. I'm hoping to go next year to San Diego where it's the closest. The only thing I don't like to do is go alone. Where I'm at..you have to do everything entirely online. I don't have a shop I can go to, like most of you. I feel bad because if there were more closer to me I would go in a heartbeat. I would love to meet many of you on the forum...but life just gets in the way.

My daughter and I have attended the midwest show for the last three years. We drive about 11 hours each way from North Carolina. With the hotel and now the rising price of gas I`m not sure we will get to go this year. As with many others there are not any shows very close to us. I think we will look at the trading on the NSU site. Any ideas on how to get shows to our area would be appreciated.

Best way to get a show to your area is to promote one yourself.
I know that sounds like a flippant answer but it is true.
You only need to hire a hall and contact some dealers to come, then locally advertise the show and you have a local show.

Another problem solved by the great wolfie. Wave

we have a show in our area here, the attleboro show, the longest currently running show of its kind. I is no longer the show it was when I found it 3 years ago, there used to be about 10 NS card dealer, not its 2 pure ns card dealers and a CCG guy, everyone else is comics, toys oh, and a couple of ns packs thown out for good measure, or a few autos priced so high, buying a case of that product would be cheaper. SOOOOO, my take is to forget runnihg "small" shows and concentrate on Conventions! Like the Philly show, Dee's show, Chicagoland/MidWest Expo, etc
