We wanted to thank all of those who gave to the campaign my 12 year-old niece is running for Nothing But Nets (nothingbutnets.net) as advertised on page 38 of the current issue of Non-Sport Update. Her goal is to get 50 donations from NSU readers and she is about 1/3 of the way there and that's great. I saw Rebecca today and she asked me to tell you that she still would really like to meet her goal of 50 donations. The organization is looking for donations of just $10 (or more).

Hi Harris, I read about the campaign in the latest NSU and I would like to make a donation.

I hope your niece Rebecca doubles her target

within seconds of making the donation I got this e-mail:

As you read this, a mother and her children are being given a mosquito net. An aid worker is showing them how to hang the net over their bed.
That was quick! was the aid worker standing outside the hut just waiting for my donation?
the e-mail goes on to say....

Tonight, she and her children will sleep safely under this net. Later-perhaps tonight, maybe in a week-a malarial mosquito will enter their hut, intent on feeding. It will buzz around the room as they sleep, and they'll be unaware of the killer lurking nearby. As it approaches the family, it will seek rest on the net hanging conveniently close to their bed. But this will be the last act it makes before it's crippled, forever incapacitated by the insecticide embedded in this protective bed cover.

I feel guilty now for kiling a mosquito.
