Got mine last week... now I'm thinking of getting the variant issue if it's still available. Big Grin

My Alias promo was all bent. Anybody else have this problem as well?

All my promos were fine.
The Alias promo has a slight curve, but only due to the type of card it is made of....

Redemption:

Just to let you know, the Lost variant issue is still available.

Also, if you (and spidergoblin) want to send your Alias card back to us with a SASE, we'll send you a replacement. We have a few of these left for this type of reason.

Take care.

Harris

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. This happens every issue. I don't know why it takes the post office so long to get them here.

I was in Worlds Apart a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to see NSU on the shelf as they've never had it other times I've been in so of course I grabbed a copy! I'm not a collector of any of the sets that the promos are from but I have to say the Alias P2 is a lovely card

Its a sci fi kind of shop... very similar to Forbidden Planet. I'm not sure how many Worlds Apart stores there are but the one I go is in Liverpool, not far from Lime Street station. I prefer it to Forbidden Planet because whenever I've been into FP the staff haven't been very friendly whereas at Worlds Apart they're usually really chatty. Plus prices are usually slightly better at WA

LOL

And I have a suspicion that Forbidden Planet take the good packs out of new boxes of cards because they always have loads of common cards in the display box along with the rest of the sealed packets... that bothers me. I know that Worlds Apart do open some packets because they sold my friend a Spike chase card once but we've had some luck at pulling the 'good' cards from there

Dont know about other Forbidden Plant stores but bought two packs of X Files 9 and got a costume card (PW2) and puzzle card, and also three packs of Chronicles of Riddick and got two autos (A3 and A4) from the Manchester store a few months ago and was well pleased Elephant

Maybe I was just exceptionally lucky?

Wolfie, if I am not mistaken, Worlds Apart must be associated with the Nostalgia & Comics shop we were in in Birmingham. As I recall, their shopping bags say Nostalgia & Comics on one side and Worlds Apart on the other.

Ah there ya go! Harris knows is stuff! Now I think about it the bags do say something about comics lol

...oh I just found a bag (right next to the computer Roll Eyes)... one side says
Worlds Apart- Liverpool and then the address and phone number and the other side says
Nostalgia & Comics- Birmingham and then the address and phone number
Both sides have the website http://www.littleappledolls.com ...personally I'm scared of those dolls but maybe thats just me! I tried getting onto the dolls website again and it didn't work but when I changed 'com' to 'co.uk' I got some kind of site about the dolls lol

It bothers you? It bothers YOU!?! You know what? You REALLY should check your facts before making spurious and potentially damaging remarks. Yes we do open packs. We do this not for our own gain, but as a service to the collector.

What would you rather do:

Go to a store and keep on buying loads of packs of cards at £1.99 each just to get the last 1 or 2 cards needed to complete your collection

or

Go to FP and buy the exact cards you need individually at a reasonable price (usually around 20 - 35p depending upon the card series)?

I know what I'd rather do! We provide lots of single cards to help collectors complete their collections. We work out the price of the individual cards based on the price of a pack and the number of cards in it. For example, a pack of cards costs £1.99 and contains 9 cards, we will charge 25p (£1.99 / 9 = 0.2211111111111, we round it up to 25p)

>I know that Worlds Apart do open some packets because they sold my friend a Spike chase card once but we've had some luck at pulling the 'good' cards from there

Have you ever seen us selling chase cards? No need to answer as I already know - No you haven't as we don't do that. If we come across a foil card we put them in with the common cards for the same price, first come, first served.

You want to know what we do with the occasional pieceworks or autograph card we may find? WE GIVE THEM AWAY. We give them to regular customers who we know collect the cards or are a fan of the show, we give them to customers who are pleasant to our staff or who we feel are deserving - sometimes we just give them to anyone, just because.

The other day, a young lad was in buying about half a dozen packs of 'Lost' trading cards, so as it was Christmas, I gave him an autograph card (I thinik it was the US Marshall that was escorting Kate on the plane when it crashed) for FREE! No charge, nada, nothing, nowt, zip, gratis...just to see the happy look on his face.

Lots of people have lots of luck pulling special cards. Just because you may not have (and I am sure that the chance of this happening is reduced by the fact that you don't buy your cards from us...), doesn't mean that many, many other customers have not.

So please, in the future - CHECK YOUR FACTS!

Hi, welcome to the board. Wavey

You sound as if you are a store manager for Forbidden Planet and i was just wondering if you get much responce to the sale of single cards in your store.
My FP does not do anything like this, it is the one in Wolverhampton.

Well if you are a manager/worker I hope you don't give this sort of rant to a customer! If you have a different view point - fine but please don't be so nasty about it - hardly a good advert for the store

Umm...nasty? I don't believe I was being nasty - I was merely pointing out that the person who originally posted, making an incorrect and potentially damaging post should gather facts before making statements that are erroneous. It's not a different point of view, it's the actual facts of the situation.

And as for a good advert for the store - claiming we snaffle all the premium cards is hardly a good advert...and wasn't the fact that you can complete your collection for a fraction of the cost and being given chase cards for nothing a good enough advert or 'nice' enough for you?
