Hi All:

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Buffy Aug/Sep NSU "variant" issue is now sold out as of yesterday. Thanks everyone for your orders.

Also, as many know, NSU will be producing a special "24" limited-edition variant cover in conjunction with The Midwest Nonsport Card Expo taking place September 19th - 21st in Tinley Park, IL (outside of Chicago). We hope everyone will support Card Talk member PAULM and his show. If you are in any way able to get to Paul's show, please come! The special 24 variant cover that NSU has planned for Paul's show is just one of many, many, many great things Paul has planned, including special guests, a great selection of non-sport cards for sale from many retailers, exclusive cards from Inkworks and Rittenhouse Archives, the 1st Annual TV/Media Movie Expo, 2nd Annual Comic & Toy Media Expo, and more. I know it sounds like I am shilling for Paul and his show and truth be told, I am. I've seen Paul at several shows over the past few month promoting his show, seen his ads in NSU and many other places, and talked to him on the phone and through e-mail these past few months and can tell you that Paul is trying to hit the ball out of the part with this one and I hope all Card Talk members and readers who can possibly make it will try to do so.

OK, I'll get off the soap box now. What I was trying to say before I got off on that tangent was that we will be listing the 24 variant cover for sale in the NSU Store within the next day. The issue features a great "24" cover not found on the regular issue plus an exclusive "24" card from Comic Images. Like the Buffy variants, any remaining copies from the show will be made available to Card Talk members (and lurkers!) and NSU readers to be shipped shortly after the show has ended as a convenience to those who are not able to make the show. Hey, did I mention you should come to Paul's show? No? If you are able to make it to the show, pick up your copy(s) from us at the show. You'll save on postage and get a chance to meet all three Tosers in one place Roll Eyes.

Thanks.

Harris

Thanks for the info Harris -- sounds super-keen.

BTW: which side of the part are they trying to hit the ball out of? If it's not parted in the middle, someone may want to pull the ball to one side or another Wink

Paul Russell

Please, Harris, not another controversial post!! I will be placing my order tomorrow. Paul has put alot of effort into this show, he deserves all the support we can give, unfortunately, I cannot go, but I hope he does well, if everyone had his enthusiasm, our hobby would be bigger than sportscards! Thumb Up

I like to think that my site *may* have had something to do with the fast sellout as I was encouraging people to go buy it. Of course without asking them where they heard about the NSU Store, it may just be coincidence. Of course, in my head I'm just gonna continue thinking I played my small part in the variant's apparent popularity

Well, I have a suggestion for Paul, which although it won't be much use for this show, it might help him for the next one...

Why not sell a Supporting Membership? This would be available to anyone who couldn't make it (like me, for instance, who is a bit geographically disadvantaged) The membership would include a donation to the show's fees, would cover postage and administration costs, and could offer the promo cards that Paul has worked so hard to get together. This way everyone in the UK could help support a non-sports event, and get something special to boot.

Just a thought, and it would allow those of us who can't attend to let Paul know we would if we could...

Hey, I LIKE that idea. I'd pay a small amount for these promos he's getting Smile

I'll certainly be getting the 24 variant issue. Isn't it limited to 500 copies???

Point taken, but I would say that alerting you it's out does encourage you to buy it. It encourages interest, interest leads to inquiry, inquiry leads to buying, buying leads to Big Grin

Welcome to Card Talk btw. Whereabouts from North England are you from?

BCW:

I'm sure your site helped raise awareness and thus move copies. Thank you again for noting our issue on your site.

You gotta be quick around here (just ask Harris - everyone beats him to responses cos he types so slow Wink. Where in the north-east you from/live - I'm originally from up there myself.

Middlesborough isn't the north-east, Newcastle is (Haway, the lads!)

Darren (of Cards Inc.) kindly offered a free B7-UK promo if you send off a SASE, although I don't know if that offer has expired. And I'm not sure if we're strictly "entitled" to receive UK promos Smile
