It seems that when I do a search (find) in Card Talk now that it only brings up Subjects and not Messages even though the option for Subject and Messages is selected. This makes it much harder to find what I'm looking for and more time consumming. I am limited on time so this has become a problem. It used to bring up the most recent messages that I posted when I select by Time. This is no longer the case.

If I understand part of your post, you want to find your latest posts....on this thread, click your username<ace of hearts> and then click on your recent posts by,and there you have it.

But at this point there is a glitch in the update, partly being discussed in this thread..
I have mentioned to Harris that the "recent post" link is also out of whack.
Hope some of this is helpful.

Hi Ace:

I am a bit confused by what you mean as well. As far as I know, this functionality should be no different then it was before and I am not having any trouble with it nor I have I received comments from anyone else.

Can you explain a bit more? Are you trying to find just the topics that you have posted in? Or a list of the most recent topics? Or...?

Thanks.

Harris

OK, I will try again. When I select "Find" and enter my user name in (Refine Search) and then select (order by) "Time" the option for "Subject and Messages" is already selected. In the recent past this would bring up both the Topics (Subjects) I started as well as my most recent posts I posted in order of most recent. Now I only get the Subjects that I started but none of my other posts. Hope this clears it up.

I also tried it the way SpiderGoblin sugested but it still only brings up Topics (Subjects) started and not my recent posts. I'm trying to get my most recent posts. Thanks.

Hi Ace:

OK, thank you for clarifying this. I have just tried what you said and do not seem to be having trouble.

First of all, when I did what you said, I noticed that you must clear out the "Posted Since" field as it seems to be defaulting to today's date. When I did the search without clearing this out, I got no results since you hadn't posted within the period.

When I cleared this out, I got a whole lot of post that you made. At first, I thought the same thing was happening that you say (i.e. only subjects that you started) but as I moved further down the list, I started getting topics that you also replied in. Apparently you must have started more topics recently rather then adding to existing ones.

For example, my search results included the topic "official December contest now active! New search!". In that topic, you had a reply and you were not the topic starter. That topic appears as the 9th entry on my search results page. Try this and see if you spot that topic as well, ok?

Also, you might want to note one other thing. Are you aware that if you click on a user name, you'll be given a list of four options? One of those options allows you to see the most recent posts by the user. So if you find one of your own postings and click on your name "Ace of Hearts", you can view your own recent posts in this manner.

Hope this helps. Be sure to try out what I mentioned above and let us know what happens.

Harris

Your second sugestion was the same as spidergoblins and I tried that as well, with the same results. As for the message you refer to, it is an old one. I have posted many messages since that one and they are not coming up.
How do you clear out "Posted Since" if there is nothing in it? I'm glad it's working for you but "all" I get is Topics Started and not all of them are even mine.

Hi Ace:

OK, could you give me an example of one that is not coming up please? I need the URL address. Just find one that is not coming up and post the address here in this thread. Or e-mail me.

Thanks a lot

Harris

PS Sorry to duplicate Spidergoblin's suggestion.

One thing I noticed is that the post count in my profile hasn't updated immediately in the past few days like it used to, might the two be related? Non-tech person speaking, so if this makes no sense ignore it. Red Face

Harris,
Here is an "example" of a couple of recent posts I made on a Subject that I did not start.
If you go to "Card Trading 1990 to Present" and look under Subject: "Buffy Season 3 Commons" started by hippiejewel, you will see several recent posts that I made.
Hope this helps. Ace

Hi Jane:

I asked Infopop about this (as I beleive other board admins have) and they are aware of this problem. They had told me that a mini-upgrade of some sort was soon forthcoming that was to set this back to the way it was. At least, that is the impression I got. I had thought they said it was coming last week but so far, I haven't seen it. Hopefully soon...

Hi Ace:

OK, now I see what you mean. I will do some further investigating and get back to you.

Thanks for the specifics.

UPDATE

Jane (and everyone else):

I've been told the update was deployed last night. Can you be on the lookout and tell me whether or not you still notice the erratic post count behavior.

Thanks.

Harris

One other oddity I noticed in the "Greatest Hits" section, but it might also be showing up in other threads with lots of older messages. The sorting by date isn't functioning 100%, and you see some of the early posts moved to near the end.

It looks like Infopop moved bunches of 2002 messages from near the start to the end, sometime between Feb 1st and 17th, and then continued on from there. Maybe it just needs to do a re-sort after something got hosed during their updates. Or maybe we all passed through a wormhole ...

Hi Ace:

I just got word in from Infopop that this is a bug in this release of the forum software Frown and one that will be fixed in an upcoming release.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Harris,
How long are we talking? I don't have time to search for replies to every message that I post, let alone remember where they all are.
Subjects started only is not enough.
This is going to hamper communicating and in the end trading. Oh well. Thanks for looking into it at least. Ace

Ace:

Sorry, I wasn't given a time table from Infopop.

You could always turn the notification on for the topics that you wish to follow. You can get those delivered to you daily, weekly, or whenever a post is made in the topic you have marked via e-mail from the forum. These do have a way of eating up bandwidth so I recommend daily or weekly.

Harris,
I noticed that when I go into refine search there is a number in "Author ID:". Has that number always been there? I don't remember seeing it before. Could that be causing any part of the problem with bringing up my recent posts? LMK
Thanks, Ace

Ace:

Huh? I don't see that. Please tell me where exactly you are seeing this, ok?

Also, Infopop still says they are working on this and on the 7th of this month, posted that it would be fixed "within a month".

Harris
