After looking for quite better way to track my cards and associated items , I have found a very large hole. After thinking about it and looking around to see how others track and how other genres track their collections, I happen upon www.comicstracker.com that allows collectors to post their comics to a site, in this way allow access via internet. Certainly beats carrying around crumbled pieces of paper with want lists and extras.
Secondary, seeing so many different formats, no way to really search, and no way to really match what I have extra, versus what other have that I want, it started to drive me a bit crazy.
But on the whole view of instant messageing, shopping agents, and file sharing, why can't collecting anything become better.
Given a server and a disk-farm, a site could host a collecting genre, let us say non-sport cards for example. The host, NSU could really pull in customers, and those customers could get access to other collectors that will help and could be helped by others within the same system. You could sell access to dealers so that they could "bid" on finishing sets or providing other items like cases, 9 card pages, or binders.
This would be far more effective than everyone posting want/extra lists that aren't standardized, and longer than a mile. This also gives a chance to use standardized checklists, let us say from : http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/allender/index.htm Jeff Allender. This would also simplify card entry since you don't have to guess how to number, describe, or title sets, cards, promos, inserts and the like.

Since we are living in the non-sport card world, instead of mopping around randomly hopeing and wishing, let us join, and build a community. Maybe, just maybe, those extra cards will help you trade more effectively for what you need.

Thanks,
Billy Cole
