I do believe she prefers the term "geek" to nerd. Nerds are a tasty candy though - my son just won a whole box at school for guessing correctly how many pieces of hard candy were in a jar --- SEE the things they teach in American schools Wink

Some incentive. I cannot think of one autograph card that was inserted in a binder that would have made me buy the binder.

I'd like to see an article about becoming a dealer/store owner. How to start, what it takes, what it costs and so on. Interview store owners and dealers for thier thoughts. Could make a good read.

You often find that collectors develop into dealers. A friend of mine started that way and has developed his buisness over the years.

How about hiring a handwriting analyst to clue us in on the inner workings behind some of these scrawled celebrity signatures. Confused

I think they take the same handwriting course that doctors are required to take. One semester, and you learn how to write your signature in such a way that you can't be sued if something goes wrong with the patient. Big Grin

Let's see a sample of your handwriting please Smile Mine is about the same level as some of the scrawl of stars and it has nothing to do with being lazy or not caring - it's just what it is. The JLK (Joanna Lynn Kohlbus) all look like one big loop and the rest of it resembles a series of hills and valleys with no real discernable letters. Unless I force myself and then it looks exactly like my mother's handwriting. Eerie...

You would have had my signature if your hubby had not let Harris win it. Wink

Maybe Harris will post a picture of the Wolfie Autograph card for you to see. Smile

I don't know, I've always taken pride in my signature, and I want the people who see the paychecks to know who is paying them!

I second the idea of an article on binders. With over 600+ binders in my personnal collection, and many that I'm sure I dont have,I think a list or article showing what sets had binders and what sets where suppose to but didnt would be very helpful.

I know there where several sets by comic images that where suppose to have binders, but they where later cancelled according to hearsay, but I've never been able to confirm they did or did not get made.

The 1992 benchwarmers set was suppose to have a factory binder, does it exist? I haven't found one yet. The coors beer binder was one many folks thought wasn't made, but I have one. The creators Universe binder was a promotional item given only to retailers, and could be found with or without autographs on it from the artists.

I've been told that binders from the eclipse card sets where only made in quantities of 200, which makes them pretty rare, no wonder the King Kong binders sell for outrageous amounts on ebay.

Anymore, most companies (Topps excluded) produce binders to go with the sets, making them decorative as well as handy for finding a particular set or series.

I have yet to see the Babylon 5 retro binder on ebay, but I fortunately finally found one at last years San Diego con for $50, was I ever a happy convention goer to have beat everyone to it.

SO press on with an article about binders PLEASE. Ron

I think each NSU writer should be given $50 to go and find card bargains at shows or on ebay, and try and resell them and see who can make the most profit Wink
That would probably make for very interesting and funny reading.

I would be interested in seeing an article about how cards of equal production number are so differently priced (discussed recently) e.g. how the Starfeets Finest Star Trek cards are produced in lesser quantities than the TOS Mirror Mirror cards but tend to go for £80-£100+ less.
I am sure there are other examples of this happening elsewhere.

Maybe a "hot topic" on NSU could also be featured as an article every two months, I'm sure that a discussion arises at least once in this time period that is magazine-worthy Smile
