For those of you in USA, be sure to check out this week's episode of the CBS drama "NUMB3RS" (airing Friday, November 23 at 10 PM). This week's show, entitled "Gothic", has action at a comic convention and if you have a really good eye, you might spot copies of our book, The Encyclopedia of Non-Sport & Entertainment Trading Cards, as well as issues of Non-Sport Update. Here's the description of the episode from CBS.com:
Friday, November 23, 10pm et/pt Graphic Charlie works to find an extremely rare comic that was stolen during a deadly robbery at a comic book convention. Guest stars Christopher Lloyd and Wil Wheaton. TVPG-LV We have no idea how long the shot will be but my guess is it will be super quick. Hopefully we didn't make the cutting room floor. Here are a couple of pictures of the book on the set: |

That is really cool. Hopefully the shot will not be too quick, but I won't hold my breath! I'll try and record the episode as I am sure that I will forget by Friday....
How did this come about? Mike. |

Out of the blue, really... We got an e-mail from one of the set decorators several weeks back telling us how she was trying to create a comic convention scene and how she had spotted the Encyclopedia in several shops in her area. She asked if we could send her some, which we kindly obliged. If you go on to Flickr and look up Wil Wheaton, you can also see some pictures of the set that he has posted. According to his captions, he found the comic convention set to be pretty authentic. By the way, we now have the Encyclopedia copies back from the set, if anyone would like to purchase a set used copy... Ha ha ha, just kidding (well, maybe not...) Again, don't get too excited though...I think it'll be pretty brief. ____________________ Promo Card Encyclopedia & Price Guide -- Brand new for 2008. Visit the PCE page. |

Cutting a couple of them up might be kind of a fun insert in an issue (or include random pages in some issues to give a "chase" element). ____________________ Ryan Cracknell http://www.tradercracks.com Trader Crack's Hobby Blog: http://tradercracks.blogspot.com/ |

So did they offer to pay the fare for Harris or Todd to Hollywood for a cameo appearance? Or did the budget only headless heroes and cardboard cutouts?

we didn't even get a stick of gum.
I don't think I would ever want to go to Hollywood anyway. Except maybe the seedy section. |

Hope someone posts here tonight to say whether we made the final cut. I'll be in jolly ole England so I won't know if we made it.

Unless I missed it, I think you ended up on the cutting room floor. I recorded it so I might watch again and pause it in places just to make sure...
Good episode of the show though. Mike. |

I went frame by frame anywhere it could have showed up and I didn't see anything NSU related.
Oh, and what a lame show. People watch that thing? I did, however, see Tone Rodriguez (I think). |

That stinks! Not sure why they went to the bother and expense now. We even got a thank you yesterday from the them thanking us for being "part of the show." ____________________ Promo Card Encyclopedia & Price Guide -- Brand new for 2008. Visit the PCE page. |

Hey Todd, did you check the end credits to see if you got a thank-you, anyway? Maybe they'll send everybody a free copy of this season's DVD.

I never looked. Never even thought to. TV credits are so fast and tiny now, that I think they are nearly non-existent. I think I erased the show from my DVR. It was stinkin' it all up.

I finally got the chance to scan through the episode tonight. THE BOOK IS IN THERE! At about the 25 minute mark, you'll find it. As expected, its ultra brief. No one would ever spot it unless you were looking extremely hard for it.
I took a picture of my TV screen. I'll try and post that tomorrow, though I'm not sure how well it will show up. But hey, we can now legitimately say "As seen on CBS's Numbers". By the way, I also spotted Tone (as Todd says). He shows up very briefly in two shots. ____________________ Promo Card Encyclopedia & Price Guide -- Brand new for 2008. Visit the PCE page. |
