The Spring Memorabilia Show is fast approaching and the list of guests is long but probably lacking a crowd puller. This will be one of the first big shows in the U.K. since the "Credit Crunch", it will be interesting to see if this affects the attendance or the spending of visitors?

The pick of the Movie/TV star for me is ROBERT VAUGHN and Linda Blair.

Anyone from here going?

The Countdown begins, I hope this show is a success as it may give an indication as whether the U.K. shows will be affected by the Credit Crunch.

"I should proof read my posts" Thanks Steve

Is any Card Talker going to this who plans on trying to get a signature from Craig Charles and who could help me out? Red Dwarf is one of my favorite shows ever and I somehow managed to have the entire main cast's autographs except for the star of the show.

I would obviously pay you for it and if you need something from Comic Con this year I will most certainly try my best to help. Thanks!

Heading down to Birmingham today to prepare for the show. Looking at the floor plan of the venue it looks like there are fewer dealers than usual. Having said that, the Spring Show is often smaller than the November one.

It will be interesting to see if the dealers who sell boxes will be dumping the Inkworks Product or hope the general box buyer is unaware of Inkworks demise and keep the prices the same. Perhaps there will be some bargains to be had, not all the autographs were Redemption.

I hope there are a lot of dealers there, some of us have got no intrest in all the zones they set up and all the guests they get in but we still have to pay the same amount to get in.

I shall be arriving at about 8.30 and will be there all day, look forward to seeing all that are going. Wavey

SHOW REPORT.
....................

Arrived at the NEC nice and early at 8.30 for a 9.00 early entry start. As with recent Memorabilia shows early entry is not worth bothering with anymore as the crowds were only a few hundred waiting to get in.

Dream Sequence....It was free to park the car and £10 to get in and i was showered with freebies as i went through the door.

Reality.... Paid £8 to park the car and £15 to be let in by a big guy who snatched my ticket out of my hand. Freebies non existant.

On entering the hall i turned left into nothing where the dealers were supposed to be. At least 20% of the hall space was empty as no dealers had taken up the offer of taking a table. Moving swiftly forward i found a wrestling ring, eating areas, burger vans, a big stage area and video demonstration booths.

Should i ask for a refund now or later?

Ah yes but there are dealers there, quite a few actually but still way down on what there used to be years ago. Loads of stuff to look at and think about buying. I could have spent a fortune. I didn't, but i could have done. Big Grin

Card dealers were in attendance and i would say there were about 10 spread out and about in the hall which is a fairly healthy number, i hope they all made some money.

Loads of guests were in attendance including Robert Vaughn, Linda Blair Richard Kiel and a host of British stars who probably would not be known in the USA but it was great to see them all.

The only non dealer cardtalker i saw was Steve J who the last time i saw him looked poised to make some purchases so i hope he got some good stuff.

I got to look after Paul Harts table whilst he went walkabout and the temptation to have a sale whilst he was away was nearly too much for me to resist. A guy asked me if the item he was looking at was 10p as it said 10p on it ( the original price of this valuable collectable ), i so wanted to say yes just to see the look on Pauls face when he came back. Big Grin

Talked with some of the dealers about Inkworks and other companies that we felt could be in the same position, the state of the hobby, the state of their sales, world peace etc......... i think we had put the world to rights by the time we had finished.

Special mention here for dealers Paul and Dawn James ( members here ) who i spoke to and who were very nice and sorted me out with some items i wanted, thank you very much for that it was very much appreciated.

A sign of the way this show has shrunk over the years is that you can now do and see everything in a morning where it used to take all day which is a shame but it does mean you get home early which i did leaving the show about 3.30.

As usual i enjoyed the day far more than i expected to and look forward to the next big show which i think is in about 3 weeks.

No rest when your a wolfie. Wavey
