Just got home - it is a long journey. Sunday was quieter than saturday but the Benchwarmer girls were lovely - card talk breakfast brought me my 2nd "top prize" of a Tee-shirt!! I spent the 2 days as the European chauffer with varying degrees of gratitude for the $80+ saved by not having to use a taxi!!

Another great show with a record attendance for a Saturday - the gaming crowd were in force and might be encouraged to collect cards (who knows) and there were more youngsters there than before - excluding Batman and headless who were quite old!

Bill DeFranzo can sniff a rare promo out from a box of commons and all the NSU staff and helpers do a GREAT job at the show - without the help the show would struggle (I even saw Scott Thomas smile!)

Those that went had a good evening at the Casino (once Jason had his ID checked) and Red Robin I lost $10 on a slot machine in about a minute (didn't beat graham's record of $10 in 2 Seconds set last year). And those that went had a nice time at the Tilted Kilt - (once Jason had his ID checked by a girl 10 years younger than him)

All the dealers seemed to do quite well - there seened to be money spent at the show (no good for wolfie). Managed to find a 1982 Smurf widevision set (that had the benchwarmer girls not been there I would have been standing in a queue next to the dealerwho had them).

I keep thinking of Hammer's reaction to winning his prize. It was kind of priceless to us...but not so much to him. Big Grin I do feel pretty bad that he's come 14,000 miles over two years and won a shirt he could never fit into.

I've taken a look at the pictures from Cliff -- the ones I usually post here. He has an amazing amount of photos and some really terrific ones. We'll use some in the magazine and some online, either on the blog and/or here. I've also looked at Barbara's and she's got some really awesome pics too. So look for those and the video soon. We're busy finishing up the Jun/Jul issue this week so it may not be immediately but hope to get a few on soon at least.

Never did get a GRIMM PROMO. I guess they either ran out of them on Sunday or they were only given out on Sat.

So great to see the Benchwarmer girls and for exclusive promos to be at this show. They both were very cool. I hope Brian will do something again like this at future shows. I just wish they brought some of those special internet sets to sell at the show. I would have bought them.

Actually found some unusual stuff I had never seen before.

Frank (and anyone else interested)...Thanks for saying that about the Bench Warmer girls. If you feel that way, you might send Brian an email to let him know you liked having the girls at the show. I'm sure he'd like to see there was interest from Philly Show collectors and he may be more interested in doing this again if he sees collector input like this.

We've already told him ourselves and thanked him for sending the girls out and doing cards for the collectors at the show but I'm sure it would mean a lot to see it from collectors like yourself as well.

Thanks.

I'll post my day 2 report as everyone seems to be rather impatient to get some photos and I don't have much free time today. I'll apologize right now for the mispelling of names. Smile

Had a great time as usual at the show this past weekend, Saturday was busy all day and after tracking down the boatlaod of promos that were being offered, I picked up commissions from Sean Pence and Veronica O'Connell, found a dealer who had broken down some Classic Mythology sets and had a Kate Bradley sketch so I snapped that up. Brough a box of Captain America for the Red Robin gathering along with some boxes for Open That Box Day, and headed out to lunch with the rowdy crew of Hammer, Headless, Uncle Jason and myself at the Tilted Kilt. We then were off to the Sands where we did some shopping at the "Peeps" store and found a pub that had the Rangers game. Back to the hotel and off to Red Robin for the bombast which was well attended once again.

The Card Talk gathering on Sunday morning was also well attended, Harris and Alan spoke about the magazine and announced the first two artists for the fall show, Ted Dastick Jr. and Sara Richard, so the fall show is off to a good start! The artists took questions and had some interesting things to say, but I won't go into detail as I believe Harris will be putting the entire meeting up at some point in the near future for everyone. Some great prizes were given away in the drawing, A Spartacus multi-case incentive auto and Brady Bunch sets from Rittenhouse, Stars Wars boxes and sketchs from Topps, A Big Bang Theory autograph and a Walking Dead sketch card from Cryptozoic, just to name a few.

Sunday at the show saw the arrival of the Benchwarmer girls who had exclusive autograph cards that they signed for free for anyone who wanted one. There were also exclusive promos for Sunday as well, and I did some more shopping, picking up 2 Classic Mythology sets and 2 boxes of Vampire Diaries. It was then time to head for home but not before stopping off again at the Kilt for lunch!

There was a lot of activity all weekend, too much to list everything, come to the show and see for yourself all the show has to offer, which is a lot!

Everyone from the folks at NSU, the manufacturers, the artists, on down did a great job of seeing to it that everyone had a fun time at the show and should be commended. Looking forward to the fall show! Big Grin

That's a great picture Batman. I see a custom trading card in someone's future! Big Grin

Speaking of which, here are some cards I picked up last weekend:

Hammer had some cards made card on the left is a Topps Match Attax card and the card on the right is a Panini card. Love the photo!! It came from last year's Philly Show. Very cool too that these are Topps and Panini cards.

And here are two others I picked up. The one on the left is by Trev Murphy. It is friggin phenominal. I love it. Veronica O'Connell gave it to me. Trev sent it down with her for me. The card on the right needs little explanation. Billie Jo and Mary were really nice.
