Alright. . . No scans, but my first acquisition report. . . which won't be quite complete. . .

I picked up 2 of the Artbox bags on Wednesday by pure luck. . .

The chase boxes were a bit disappointing for me, I had 2 autos: Warwick Davis, and Frances De La Tour. Plus 3 Costumes/Props (sorry they are packed and I don't remember which I pulled), and a film cell).

I traded off the binders and tins for some sketches and an autograph because I had no idea how I was going to get them home.

Tonight my girlfriend and I got back to the hotel early so we decided to crack the boxes.

First box was ok:

Cho Chang Auto Redemption
Death Eater Costume (C18)

Second Box was ok. . .
Film Cel CFC1
Death Eater Costume (C16). . .

Figured that was the end of that, but in the last pack Anna found the Hermione Autograph Redemption!!!

That makes up for the STACK ($100+) of packs I bought that yielded about $25 worth of chase.

Jon

Thanks for the responses, but I should probably have been more specific. The box is sealed in it's shrink-wrappy goodness and I'm not sure I want to open it. Now, I remember that there was an open one on display in the glass case at the Artbox booth but I don't remember exactly what was in it. If memory serves it was 3 Death Eater Mask cards, each numbered to 100. But I don't really remember. Also, there are Death Eater Mask prop cards in packs that are also numbered to 100 and I don't know what the difference is. I've seen random Death Eater cards selling for about $150-200 on eBay (although prices seem to be stabilizing a bit) but haven't seen one of these sets. I'll check again.

I was kinda hoping that someone would post a picture in the pictures thread of the open set in the Artbox case...

-Bob-

edit: I just found a whole bunch on eBay. Whee!

Besides the Goody Bag and Death Eater set I got from Artbox I also bought a box of Strictly Ink's New Avengers cards from Julio's which I've broken down and posted about in the Box Breakdown section. There was a single box of Firefly cards at Mark's booth that (as far as I could tell) was the least expensive at the show (well, by about $2, but that's an extra pack!) and I told him if it was still there on Sunday then I'd buy it. Sure enough, it was still there so I bought it. Haven't broken it down yet, though. It was really an excuse to finally have some cards to buy the binder I had put aside at work months and months ago so I could put the cards in it.

Once I've got the HP boxes and the Firefly box broken down I'll post the contents in the Breakdowns section.

-Bob-

Just got back home from my Comic-Con/Vegas adventure.

It was a fantastic holiday and I really enjoyed meeting my fellow Card Talkers, especially Graham (nice meeting with you and hope to catch up soon).

Back on topic, I managed to pick up a few bargains/hard-to-find cards at the show...

Complete Bond Mads Mikkelsen auto (VL): $15
James Bond Dangerous Liaisons Famke Janssen auto (VL): $395

I also got some sketch card commissions from Katie Cook and Tom Hodges (who did me a fantastic Princess Leia). I will post pics of these soon (Katie's cards to come later, including a cool triptych which I'm sooo looking forward to seeing). Otis Frampton was also kind enough to draw an Ep IV Luke Skywalker on his sketchbook for me.

Man. Comic Con was a blast. More people this year than last for sure, felt much more crowded. I had a TON of stuff I picked up, but I will go over the highlights.

7 Artbox Harry Potter Mystery Tote Bags
-Dan Radcliffe GOF Auto
-Emma Watson OOTP Auto (from Hobby box inside tote)
-Rupurt Grint OOTP (From Hobby box inside tote)
-2x Evanna Lynch (Luna) Autos (from Hobby Boxes inside tote)
-GOFU Hermione's Book Prop Card # 130/130
-3x World of Harry Potter 9 Card Promo Set

-From a single pack of Memorable Moments I purchased for my little brother, he pulled the Christmas Card prop card # 180/180 (very cool, has some red stars on it

Had a massive trade on the first night, I traded about $1200 worth of cards. In return I got:
-Battlestar 6 Case Dual Auto Bamber/Sackahoff
-Battlestar 6 Case Dual Auto Helfer/Callis
-Battlestar Paul Hogan Auto
-Battlestar Callum Keith Rennie Auto
-Battlestar Matthew Bennett Auto
-Complete Bond Prop Card RC6 Licence to Kill Casino Chip (Multi Colored...I now have White, Green, Yellow, Brown, and the Multi...I think I only need the normal Pink chip and I have them all)
-Complete Bond Prop Card RC18 Casino Royale Casino Chip

During the rest of the days I also managed to pick up:
-Complete Bond Prop Card RC13 World is Not Enough Green Casino Chip $325 (I could not believe the price on this card, I snatched it up the SECOND the seller said that price)
-Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Master Set

So I had a GREAT convention. My Bond prop set is only 1 card away from being complete (RC8 of course) but hopefully I can get my hands on one soon. I got off to a GREAT start on my Battlestar set (I just finished season 3 a couple nights ago and WOW, what a cliffhanger) and I pulled some GREAT Potter cards that will help recoup a LOT of the money spent. I had such a great time, and I am already counting down till next year...353 days!

Wow, how did you pick up 7 Artbox totes? I got lucky on the first day and picked mine up -- after that I was told they were 1 per person, and they were perpetually sold out.

Nice!

Jon

Hi all!

well, my wife and I finally recovered from the trip and have a weekend off from work to breathe! As always, we had a great time at the SDCC. Met all sorts of people at the show. Many cardtalkers and artists! Got lots of goodies too! Among the highlights:

11 goodie bags from Artbox (My wife is a HP junkie)
Highlights from those boxes include:
Michael Gambon GOFU auto Big Grin
John Cleese SS auto Metal
Frances De La Tour GOFU auto
2 Bonnie Wright exclusive autos Clap
4 David Tennant exclusive autos Clap
James Phelps OOTP auto
Michael Gambon OOTP auto redemption Big Grin
The BEST card of the all the bags we opened was a Memorable Moments Ci2 prop card!
Defense Against the Dark Arts Book Prop 076/098! Elephant

We also completed our Veronica Mars Season 1 Master Set by picking up A-4, PW4 & PW5 for a very nice price

The 24 Season 4 special that Artbox was running was also very cool. 2 sealed boxes (1 season 4 & 1 season 4 expansion), 1 binder, 2 exclusive prop cards and 1 signed costume card!

On the last day we scored a Death Eater set from their booth as well! Which was a bonus because neither of us thought we would get it.

I broke down and bought a box of Complete Avengers for $110 and got a cool Captain Marvel sketch by Igor C.

Joseph Michael Linsner had a great deal at his booth: The Complete 6 card insert set from "Dawn: Another Card Set" PLUS the Auto card for only $10! And he signed the six inserts too!

There were some Alias, Lost & Complete James Bond autos and props that we also got from boxes and loose packs that we bought. They filled holes we were missing but nothing to write home about.

Best loose pack pulls?
Lost Revelations A1 Yunjin Kim
Lost Season 2 Hurley Sand Redemption Card
A Sweet Renae DeLiz Hellboy sketch 092/246

Found a nice deal on a Complete James Bond Case Topper!

Other sketch cards:
Steven Miller X3 Bobby/Ice-Man
Steven Miller X3 Pyro
BC Kong Heroes Hiro Sketch
Ink2007 Family Guy Brian Sketch by Tone Rodriguez
Ink2007 Hellboy Sketch by Lee Kohse
Tom Hodges Joker (DC) Sketch
A BEAUTIFUL Heroes sketch by Cat Staggs of Peter! I couldn't believe no one else had bought it yet when I finally got to her table on day 3!

Lastly, our favorite pick-ups of the show:
Supernatural Season 1 PW13A & PW13B Pieceworks Incentive set

Smallville Season 5 James Marsters Auto & 2 different PW9's (Also James Marsters)! Completely different swatces!

And...........Buffy 10th just released before the show and we picked up a couple of boxes that we ordered while we were down there.

Willow Pieceworks Variant Redemption Card Clap
And......

A SE-1! The Stake Prop! #12/107! Metal Drool Bouncey

Funny thing about the stake? It's an error. The actual prop piece is loose from the card. The printing company didn't put the clear plastic layer on the top of the prop! We showed it to all the fine folks at Inkworks, and were told to send it in and they would replace it. We're still debating that ourselves.

We had a great show. But we always do. It's something around the 19th straight year that I have gone and about the 11th or so for my wife.

I'm going to go ahead and answer the question now: Why 11 goodie bags? It's 1 of the things that my wife allocates into our convention budget because we don't order a ton of Harry Potter stuff throughout the rest of the year. A box here or there. And that's about it. This way she gets a lot of stuff, and usually about 90% of it is stuff we're missing! So that's why. How did we get 11? Well, there's a total of 3 of us running around the floor (myself, my wife and our friend Mark). So that's easy. lol

Anyone know how many of those Artbox Harry Potter goodie bags were given out?

Must admit I am very jealous of the cardtalkers who managed to get multiples.

I have seen figures of 100 Bonnie Wright autos and 250 David Tennants.Did anyone at Artbox actually give out those numbers at the show?

There were 500 goodie bags sold during the show. 100 each day including preview night.

Everyone at Artbox was stating the numbers for the autos as being 100 Wright and 250 Tennants too.

Each bag had a set of the Red Foil OoTP promo cards which was an exclusive and a Lenticular OoTP Binder which was also exclusive.

This would lead me to believe that they were limited to 500 each.

And the actual canvas tote bags that everything came in is also REALLY nice! Not some cheap little plasic bag or something!
