Great show Paul! Picked up a few inserts and completed some sets. Also got a box of Kiss Icons and James Bond Archives to open tonight. Thanks to Ed, Jon, and Iggy. See everyone at Wizard Chicago or at the Fall Expo. Wave

A nice small show, well worth attending. The room was small and warm, aisles were a little cramped, but not bad.
Saw many Card Talk folks, Kennywood, Venom5Liter, Hippiejewel, nice to see you all.

The only "rare" promo was a Happy Jack card meant for the fall show, that arrived too late.

Much of the stuff I was looking for wasn't there - Bond Heritage Inserts, Breygent Movie Poster Foils from the recent set, but there was lots of other stuff to buy. Igman did have a few of my needs for Bond Heritage inserts, and I completed my mini-master set of Bond in Motion, got an album for this one also.

From Ed I got a box of the Seeker for reduced rate, I opened this up, and found several promos for other sets, as many as 4 in a pack. Got 6 Golden Compass P1, 2 Golden Compass P2, and 3 Lost Season 3 L3 1.

Web Jon set up a table, very reasonable prices - got a Famke Jansen X Men auto for $30.

I had to get home for some family stuff, so I left after about 2 hours, overall I'm happy with my purchases, I only had about $120 spending money this time. it was nice seeing the people there. Thanks Paul, for a great small show, looking forward to your big bash in September!

Paul really knows how to put on a show. There were a LOT of raffle prizes, and nice prizes they were. I was fortunate enough to win the very first raffle prize; an uncut, 6-card strip of "Wicked Witch" from Wizard of Oz: Series 1.

Thanks to Ed at Sci-Fi cards, I was able to fill in a LOT of holes in my promo card collection. I'm especially pleased to finally get the last promo card I needed for a particular set.

The show itself seemed like it had a fairly good turnout. The rows seemed rather crowded with people stopping to look at what was on display at all of the tables.

It was really nice to see Don, Mike, Julie, and Jon at the show. I enjoy catching up on how the collections of other people are coming along.

All-in-all, I had a really enjoyable time. My sincere appreciation to Paul for yet another great show! Thumb Up

Don, what is the topic? Are you able to post a scan of the card?

WOW! I wondered what Allan had been doing with all of the extra promos. Now we know. Seeding them in packs... Eek Ed, I want a box like that too! I'll be at Philly! Wink

Thanks everyone for posting about their attendance!

Mike.

. . . It was a fun show. . . My collection reduction table was just hammered until the room quieted down, but from doors open until about 1 Anna and I were slammed.

Thank you to everyone to stopped by just to chat, say hi or look through lists. . . it was a lot of fun.

It seemed liked a lot of people came too.

The only downside for me was that I didn't get to spend much time on the collector side of the table, but I did get to chat with just about everyone so it was a lot of fun.

Jon

Mike 999, The Happy Jack promo is a drawing of the Happy Jack Girl Jester (Happy Jaqueline?). It is numbered SP 2. Happy Jack was a sponsor of the Fall 2008 Chicago show, and the back talks about their on-line store. They were supposed to be given out at the Fall show but the cards arrived the Monday after the show. Paul said only a few people at the Ohio show got some, so it's a fairly rare promo.

The Inkworks promos in the Seeker packs surprised me. The first pack of cards I opened had 3 Golden Compass cards in it, I had to stop and look at the wrapper.
This is actually a real good way to distribute promos, Comic Images used to do it all the time. I was just surprised to get so many of them. I still was able to put together 2 complete base sets, and the Seeker cards are nice looking.

I also bought several packs of Golden Compass from Ed in his 50 cent box. The costume may have been gone, but I got 5 of the other inserts, and most of a set.

Don,

Thanks for the info.

I thought you meant the next show (Fall 2009). I have managed to get all of the promo's from the last show, including the Happy Jack cards.

I agree, it is a good way to distribute promos. As long as it does not impact the end results of what you get in the box that you bought.

Thanks again.

Mike.

Paul,

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Some of the dealers gave me their business cards as they did not have any of the cards I was looking for with them. Also thank you for the John Wayne Repro Sketch Card strip from Breygent that I received as a door prize.

Don,
I enjoyed talking to you about the various card
series.

It was indeed a nice intimate show. I had a blast chatting with Jewel, Mike, Don, Ed and everyone else. I brought my camera but never ended up taking any pictures Twak. My buddy Carl and I will have to see about doing the fall show.

Hello everyone! I have some pix to post. take a look in the next couple or so days.
Thanks to everyone for coming out to spend the day! It was terrific! The show was smaller in size this time, but we all made it work. It seemed like everyone had a good time and found some things, which is always good.
I want to Thank all of the people who made donations for the Treasure Chest. Thank you!
We collected approx 450 cards, about 15,000 or so card singles, about 3 boxes of toys.
I really appreciate everyone's support in the Treasure Chest.
We will have some very special announcements to make in the near future, so keep an eye peeled!
Also, keep watching for the show photos as well.
Thanks again everyone, we really had a good time!
Take care,
Paul
