Hi All:

Here are some details on the Card Talk member gathering that will take place at the upcoming Philly Non-Sports Card Show.

This show's NSU Card Talk Member Gathering will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn (1787-B Airport Rd, Allentown, PA 18109), our host Hotel, in the Lehigh Valley Room. In keeping with the Fall show's Mars Attacks 50th Anniversary theme, for this Card Talk member gathering, we present a The Road To Mars! Topps' Licensing Manager Adam Levine will talk about Mars Attacks—specifically, where Topps is taking Mars Attacks and how the company hopes to keep the franchine popular for another 50 years. Adam will provide an overview of Topps' plans for Mars Attacks—the new story, where it's going, and how they'll developed it. Also discussed will be merchandising and entertainment; the future of the comics; and potential new card series'. Adam will take questions as time permits.

We will have a few prizes on-hand to award at the close of the meeting and talk about some NSU stuff at the start. All registered Card Talk members (registered as of September 15, 2012) will be eligible to win any prizes we have. As usual, to make things fair, once we give away a prize to one family member, husband/wife, etc. that will take that group out of the running for any other prizes.

The gathering will start at 8:15 on Sunday, October 21 and will last approximately one hour. Light refreshments will be served including coffee, donuts, and bagels.

We invite all Card Talk members (and their guests) attending the show to come to the gathering. Space will be limited and there is no cost to sign up.

HOW TO SIGN-UP
Please only sign-up if you can make it, as we hate to turn anyone away and then have empty seats. We're using the EventBrite system once again to facilitate sign-up:

NSU Card Talk October 2012 Event

When signing up, be sure to supply your "real" name and forum ID for each person you are RSVP'ing for (guests are welcome too - please be sure to supply guests full name for the name badges). The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 10, or while space permits. If anyone has any trouble with the sign-up process, please let me know.

Registered, Will be there. I am assuming we don't need to register toddler children ? They can sit on laps if worst comes to worse.

See ya all there!

We're getting sign-ups really fast this time, which is great. We're two-thirds filled now, after just one day!

You might want to think about this. It gets pretty cramped in our meeting room as others here will attest to. Definitely no room to run around in there. And I have a feeling a toddler may find all the adults speaking pretty boring. Smile

Harris,

I can't be the only one with children can I? So are you saying I should not attend?

Maybe my wife can stay at the hotel and watch them while I attend the talk.

P.S. Post #500, just in timeSmile

I have been to 2 meetings and nobody under 40 has been there. It is very crowded (in a good way) and ok if the children can sit quietly for an hour of "card talk" with a room full of adults.

No one is saying you should not attend, Harris was only giving you some good advice, as the meeting could be tough for a small child to sit through, that's all. If you want to bring your child to the gathering that's fine but now at least you will be prepared for a crowded room and noisy adults! Big Grin

I'm sticking by what I said before. And this good advice from Hammer and Batman, two people who have been there before. I'm not telling you the toddler can not come, just that I just don't think anyone will be too happy with you if he gets uncomfortable and starts fussing during the meeting. And I won't be too happy for our presenter's sake.

Just a reminder -- there is less then a week to go before the deadline to sign-up runs out. You must sign up by next Wednesday (10/10). And there are only 11 spots left. So don't delay.

Thanks.

Sorry, I think perhaps I posted this in the wrong topic section...

Harris has asked Adam Levine, Topps' Licensing Manager (and Mars Attacks gatekeeper) to speak at the Sunday Morning card-talk forum.

Mr. Levine is preparing a roundtable discussion format, but Harris has also asked him to bring a visual presentation.

So what is it you'd all like see?

I probably just stop by myself or just go to the show then.

Come to Card Talk and sit at the table next to the rear door. If he gets restless you're two steps out the door. (That's usually where I sit Wink )

Well,

I made a valiant attempt. I was walking around looking for the lehigh room but apparently I was at the wrong Hilton Garden Inn, who would have thought there were two in Allentown. So I am back at my room at the homewood suites packing up for next leg of my road trip after the sunday show. Hopefully I can make the next card talk.
