On one of the Star Wars sites that I go to, they seem to think it's a foregone conclusion that the big announcement is Brock Lesnar. It's too close to Comic Con for me to be able to afford to go, but he would definitely be a guest that would make me want to go.

He used to be in the WWE, and now he is the UFC heavyweight champion.

I can't believe the prices of some of the autograph tickets!

  • Rhona Mitra - $45.00
  • Michelle Rodriguez - $45.00
  • Doug Jones - $33.00
  • Margot Kidder - $33.00
  • Billy Dee Williams - $65.00 Eek
  • Maria de Aragon - $33.00
  • Dave Barclay - $33.00
  • Luke Goss - $39.00
  • Michael Papajohn - $28.00
  • Christopher Heyerdahl - $25.00

While the last couple aren't unreasonable, some of the others certainly are. What surprises me, though is that tickets don't seem to be required for Edward James Olmos or Michael Hogan of "Battlestar Galactica" fame.

I'd bet there will still be a fee for Olmos and Hogan at the show.

The ones you listed are being brought in my the companies selling the autograph tickets. But many of the other actors just collect at the time of the signing.

These prices will eat into the buying power of people at the con though. I did a show in Tulsa and between all 15 of the guests (including Nimoy ($65auto,$65picture) and Avery Brooks) there wasn't much money left being spent with dealers.

Ouch! I knew there'd be some sort of fee but I didn't expect that much. I was really wanting an autograph but I can't justify spending that much. Shake Head

I won a drawing on the C2E2 website for a free C2E2 t-shirt that arrived yesterday. I'll probably wear it to Wizard World one day...lol.

I guess Billy Dee can charge what he lkes with the Star Wars connection but none of the others should be more than $30.

Of course if nobody buys them they won't be.

Why are they charging so much? One year Mike Rosenbaum and other people were free. I go the Superman Celebration. Everyone was $10 and lower or free. I got Adam West and Julie Newmar, and others for free.

Makes me wish I would have forked out the $$$ years ago when Billy Dee wanted $25 at the Chiller Convention in NJ. I've regretted it every day since. Frown

There seems to be a direct connection between how much the convention pays the guest and how much the autographs are. And both Coolwaters and Celebrity Authentics will have a signing booth which is very pricey.

Wizard World gets all their money up front, but I'm guessing that they pay airfair and lodging but not much more for the 'guests'. Thus, they charge more at the booth to make the weekend worth doing for the actor.

My friend at Celebrity Authentics told me that they pay 1st class airfare and hotel for all of their guests. So I'm guessing that's the reason for the prices as well. I realize not all the celebrities are with this compney but it gives a nice insite. I got Sean Astin at Wizard for free. Along with Joss Whedon.......Ah the good old days.

I remember so many cool free autographs back in the day...Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Kelly Hu, Sean Astin (I missed the line but got him through the mail), Stan Winston (RIP), cast/crew of Cry Wolf, etc etc etc...

Now everything costs extra, although I was pleasantly surprised in 2006 when Tom Jane was only $6 while Kristen Bell was $30ish.

I don't mind paying for it but the prices this year are ridiculous. For some of those guests, you have to bring your own item or buy a pic for an extra $5. The hobby is really going (gone) downhill for me.

Also, I find the Froggy Pics offer to be ridiculous, fine if people want to pay for it but I'm afraid more and more people will start charging for a photo-op on top of the autographs. For $49 with Billy Dee, people should get a pic with him at no added charge.

On the bright side, the show is only 2 weeks away ! ! ! Smile

We missed his signing, didn't make it in line in time. Frown
However, we did walk up toward the front and take a photo of him signing, just to get him included in my conventions photo collection. I've heard he was a class act. Smile

That link still says the announcement will be made on 7/13, so I emailed Amy from Wizard Publicity (listed on the website) and she wrote back that the announcement was put on hold. She didn't give me any other info on that.

Exactly, there are still many "old school" types who you can pay in person without going through the reps. I prefer that approach, it feels like less of a business (even though we still pay for it Big Grin ).

I believe that 100%, I know it applies to me. I'm not going to shell out for all the people I want at this show, so I'll just limit it to Star Wars. And then I'm also budgeting some money for dealers, I need a few odds and ends so I'll stop by your booth Ed. I remember meeting your son a few years back, he seems like a good guy. Smile

Did he pose for photos, too?

As excited as I was to see Billy Dee added to this guest list...now I may not even get him. See, I bought a signed pic from Official Pix a few years ago since Billy Dee cancelled an earlier appearance. Well this year I would decide to pay $49 and get one in person if I can get a pic taken with him...HOWEVER when I clicked to pre-order a ticket, it said "photography prohibited at the booth" for Billy Dee's listing, but not for Dave Barclay. So basically, if they are going to be stiff and not allow photo ops (no, I will not pay for the stupid Froggy's Photos racket), then I'm skipping on Billy Dee. Sure, it would be cool to get it in person but at that price WITHOUT a photo op, I will pass and be happy with the autograph I already have.

I did click on the "email this vendor" link and pose a question on the photo policy, also stating that I will not pay that much without a photo-op, so we'll see if I hear back. I'm prepared for the probability that this won't go my way, so I'm ready for that. Smile

Rumor patrol here. I've just beem told that Peter Facinelli AKA Dr. Carlisle Cullen will NOT be appearing on Sunday. They've gotten Alex Meraz who plays Paul of the wolf pack for the up coming New Moon Movie. I wanted to let you all know this because Peter is still listed as a guest. Take care everyone.

I'm really starting to regret buying tickets for this show. On top of the prices for autographs shown above, here are the prices to have your picture take with the following celebrities:
Billy Dee Williams - Sat & Sun $40.00

Cerina Vincent - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Daniel Logan - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Dave Barclay - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Double with Doug Jones & Luke Goss - Sat Only $75.00

Double with Edward James Olmos & Michael Hogan - Fri, Sat & Sun $85.00

Double with Gary Coleman & Todd Bridges - Sun Only $55.00

Doug Jones - Fri, Sat & Sun $40.00

Edward James Olmos - Fri, Sat & Sun $60.00

Emma Caulfield - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Erin Gray - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Gary Coleman - Sun Only $30.00

Kristanna Loken - Fri, Sat & Sun $50.00

Luciana Carro - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Luke Goss - Sat Only $40.00

Margot Kidder - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Maria de Aragon - Sat & Sun Only $30.00

Michael Hogan - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Michael Papajohn - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Peter Facinelli - Sun only $30.00

Peter Mayhew - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Ray Park - Sat & Sun Only $30.00

Todd Bridges - Fri, Sat & Sun $30.00

Triple Shot - Edward James Olmos, Michael Hogan & Luciana Carro $100.00

Whatever happened to when the person behind you would use your camera to snap a picture of you bending over the table to get a quick shot with someone? I remember past Wizard World shows where you had to pay for the autograph but the celebrity also posed for a picture with you.

These charges are really starting to get out of hand.
