Hi All:

We're doing a program book for the upcoming 50th Philly Non-Sports Card Show in Allentown. Jim Kyle has created the cover for us, which is a great play on everywhere the Philly show has been held and the one place it has not. Here's the art:

Jim is also giving us a beautiful color version of the cover in sketch card form to be given away to one lucky person who attends the show. Here's a peek at that:

And finally, I should point out that we are pre-selling a limited number of packages that contain the program book and 4 promos as follows:
  • Promo #51 with art by Ken Kelly
  • Promo #52 with art by Neil Camera
  • Promo #53 MHopOnHop's congratulatory card
  • The "standard" (non-foil) version of the NAR! card we are giving away at the dinner. All who come to the dinner will receive a foil version of this card (available only to those who attend the dinner).
The packages does not contain cards that the exhibiting manufacturers will be giving away.

This package is now available for sale here in the NSU Store. This is a great way to support the show for those of you who live too far away to attend.

Thanks.

Very nice, cool idea for the cover. I'm happy to say I've been to all the locations, from the Holiday Inn through Merchants Square. My favorite is Merchants Square, and my least favorite was Pennsauken, I could always see the darned place from the highway but could never get there!

Very cool cover! Cool On a side note Harris, will the next issue of NSU be bumped up a few days like last year and be available to those attending the show?

Great idea! Looks really good.

Will we be able to purchase multiple copies at the show?

Also, will there be any Philly promos available at the door or is the only way to get Philly show promos from the program/promo package?

Thanks.

Mike.

Hi Mike:

See notes below:

Um, interesting question. No, that is not why this has been done. Our intent is not to charge people for promos at the show or make any changes in that regard. This new "package" deal is just a way for those who live too far away from Allentown to get the program book and promos and support the show a bit in the process. But we're certainly not trying to start charging those who come to the show for promos.

So everyone, please come to the show and get the cards for free! Plus, don't forget that you'll also need to come to the show to get any cards that Rittenhouse Archives, Monsterwax, and Breygent Marketing may be handing out (plus there may be a surprise or two from other companies at the front door).

See above. Yes, as I said, things should be status quo at the door with promos being handed out (for free) by Cliff and Carol, who have been handling that at the past few shows.

Glad you asked these questions, Mike. I wouldn't want anyone to think now you have to pay to get the "Philly promos" at the show.

Hi Logan:

Doubtful. I think the window between the show and original magazine publication date was a day or two shorter last year. We haven't planned to make this change this year. We'll have to give it some thought and see if it's possible.

Hi:

We're putting together the program book now. We want to put a few old pictures in the program. We have the late 90s and on covered.

Does anyone have any pictures of Philly shows from the 1980s or early 1990s??? If so, please e-mail me.

Thanks.

Harris

Hi Mister E:

Sure, you can order that. The info and link is at the bottom of the first post in this thread.

Wish you could make the show. It should be a really good one. Come On...You're not too far away. We get several people from MASS...Dealers too. Com'on, Mister E....gas up the ole car and take a road trip. Razz

Oh, and don't forget that I'm looking for pictures for the program book. So if anyone has any, see my request a few posts up and please e-mail me.

Harris, I would if I could but: 1 - no car, 2- just got back from emergency room earlier today and I have viral pnumonia and it is contagious - so i'm typing with white gloves on and if I touch something without the gloves on and someone else touches it and puts their fingers in their mouth... they catch it. Bummer !!! Shake Head Frown Frown Eek

OK, sorry to hear all that Mister E. Yeah, it does sound like it would be nearly impossible for you to make it to the show. As I said above, you can still take advantage of the "package" offer if you want the Philly promos and program book. See the first post in this thread.

I'm trying to make sure that my request for pictures from the early shows does not get lost here among our conversation. So again, if anyone has pictures from 1980s and early to mid-1990s Philly shows for our program book, please send me an e-mail (my address is in my profile). We're fairly well covered on the picture front from about 1997 to today.

Thanks.

Just wanted to let everyone know who ordered the 50th Philly Show Program from our website that orders will be going out in the next couple of days. And some good news -- In addition to the four advertised promo cards that will be included, we'll be including two more promos: the Ghost Whisperer unnumbered promo with Non-Sport Update's logo on the back that was given out at our table at the show and an autographed version of the Neil Camera Philly Promo.

There are still copies left for anyone who might still like to order a copy of this collectible. We'll be including the two extra cards while supplies last. Details and ordering info here.

Thanks.

Harris

Harris, thats a nice little Philly package! I just placed my order.

I like the last picture on the bottom row on the inside of the back cover.... Smile

Actually, a great little souvenir of the show. And a great way to pick up a few of the hard to get Philly promos...

Mike.
