Dates for the 2009 show have been changed. The new dates are April 17-19, 2009.

If you have a chance to come to this show please do as it is great! While not a card show....there were 4-5 card dealers there last year...there are tons of other items old and new. The guest list is quite impressive as you can see from the links so if autographs are your thing there are plenty to choose from. They just announced the week of MegaCon that they have added Leonard Nimoy....Trek Fans will be HAPPY! Other guests include James Marsters...Spike from Buffy and Angel...and many more. And there is an extensive Creators Alley. I have been doing this show since the early 90's and while it has gone through many changes (we were at the fair grounds 1 year!) it is always my best show of the year!

Special offer for Card Talk members: I have a limited # of coupons...buy 1 adult admission get one at half price. Just email me at fyi@tampabay.rr.com with your mailing address and I will send it out to you....I only ask that if you request one you use it.

I will be located in booth 319 on the left side as you enter the room, facing the guests towards the middle of that area. Would love to see new and old faces. And bring your trades with you as I am always looking. Come by and say hi!

I'll be set up there also. Booth 510. Stop by and say Hi! With the announcement of Leonard Nimoy being added to the Guest List it should bring out lots of Star Trek Fans.

OK...the show is less than a week away. I just got done loading up the truck. Will be packing tonight, pick up the trailer on Tuesday morning and away we go.

But David, why are you loading the truck and packing for a show that setup is Thursday and you are 2 and a half hours away? I am glad you asked!

But 1st, a disclaimer....the following rant is in no way a complaint about my job! I know there a LOT of people out of work who would love to have a job to complain about. My 'Real' job allows me to take care of my family and I am very lucky to have it!! End disclaimer.

Those of you that tuned in last year remember that I had a project at work that started the same time as FX...I had to take conference calls at the convention center while setting up my booth and had to cancel time off after the show to go right back to work the next day.

So a couple of weeks ago my boss calls me into the conference room and says he has another important project he wants me to lead. Another big challenge that I am excited to take on. And I will have to travel to LA....cool! I have never been to LA before. 'When?' I ask...I would have bet a million dollars on it and been right.

So of course I am flying out of Tampa at 6:15 AM on Wed., 4/15 for LA. Meetings all day Wed., meetings all day Thursday....then the red-eye to Orlando which (hopefully!) arrives 5:50 Friday morning 4/17.

As a result I will miss setup on Thursday. But thanks to Tim, Cliff and the crew my stuff will get there on Thursday and I will be able to set up Friday morning as much as possible before the show opens at 12pm. That is if I don't pass out for sleep deprivation, of course!!

So now you know why I am packing everything up today!

I am really looking forward to the show...minus the sleep deprivation of course! I got a stack of promos for Wolverine and Star Trek from Amy at Rittenhouse....thanks Amy!....so stop on by for some goodies. If you have stuff to trade or sell please bring them by as I always like to look...Friday won't be the best day for this as I will be rushing to set up all day....so if you stop by Friday please be patient with me.

A great line up of guests and artists....I hope to see you there!

David

Show was great, but attendance was way down. The economy has really taken a bite out of this show. Last year it was packed solid with card and comic collectors. Anime fans dressed up.... the whole nine yards. Went on first day and I knew it would not be busy because school was in session. Saturday not much of an improvement in attendance. They had great talent there. Stars were all signing, some little disapiontments in comic artist's not showing up. I got all I was looking for and the stuff I had with me to get signed. I hope this does not effect the show producer becuase this is an excellent show. I would recommend it to any one.
Sorry, for the short update, but the show this year just didn't feel the same.
