Since I'm still on San Diego time I will give my thoughts on my first Convention and the trip as a whole.

The wife and I arrived early Wednesday evening and were a little bit surprised how cool it was in San Diego. I guess it has to do with the sea breeze and the lack of humidity. We made it to the hotel and once we checked in we debated on whether or not to attend the Preview Night ceremonies, we decided against it.
We hit the Convention first thing on Thursday morning via the Trolley and kudos to San Diego for such a well maintained system. All of the cars and stations were immaculate. Once off the trolley I was shocked at seeing the line that snaked around the Convention Center, fortunately 90% of the people in line were those who hadn't already purchased a ticket. I can't believe people would subject themselves to this, but they do. We were directed to the entrance for those who had already pre-registered and there were plenty of personnel to handle the crowd. I want to take this moment to say well done to the people who have put this show together. The staff was more than adequate and everytime we asked for directions or info the person knew the proper answer. The restrooms were always in tip-top condition and while it may seem like a minor thing if you've gone to a show where maintenance isn't properly looked after you know what I'm talking about.
We managed to walk the whole floor and the highlight of the day was meeting Amber Benson and getting her autograph as well as our picture taken with her.
Friday started off with the Card Talk Breaksfast at Hennesey's and I've gone into detail on that in another thread. After a short walk to the Convention, Day 2 was off and running. We got to meet Camden Toy at the Diamond booth and I was shocked at how short he was. After seeing him as one of the Gentlemen and the UberVamp I thought he was a lot taller. Later that afternoon we had the pleasure of meeting Adam Busch. A very nice guy and definitely unlike his character on Buffy. The highlight of Friday was the sketch session that Inkworks held. While waiting for things to start up my wife and I had the pleasure of chatting with Tone and he is a super guy! Once the sketch session started he did a super sketch of Rodney Copperbottom for my wife and a great looking Stewie for me. While he was working I got to talk to Mark Dos Santos. I mentioned that I had pulled a sketch of his from the ROBOTS product and since he had copies of his cards I showed him which one. To my amazement he knew exactly how much I had sold it for and how much the proceeding seller sold it for. He then got into a conversation with Tone about this, all while both were making some fantastic sketches. These guys care about their work and they do track their sketches, so keep this in mind next time you decide to badmouth a sketch you pull, which you dislike Wink
Saturday was the big day. Inkworks had a killer line-up, with Invasion, LOST, and Night Stalker autos up for grabs. I was really P.O.'d that for some reason the doors didn't open until 10:30 and by the time we made it to the Inkworks both the Invasion tickets were all gone. A huge crowd surged around their booth as they then held a drawing for the LOST tickets. Each fan got to pull a ticket from a box and if they were lucky they got an autograph ticket. I was one of the lucky ones. While waiting for the session to start I was able to score a Claire Kramer auto as well as an Adam Balwin auto, both from the Diamond Booth. Claire is supersweet and again nothing like the Buffy character she portrayed. I joked with Adam that I still consider him "Animal Mother" from "Full Metal Jacket" and he fell right into character by asking me, "You talk the talk, but do you walk the walk?" A very class guy! We finally headed over to the Inkworks booth and got in line for the LOST signing. This was some event. A huge crowd was gathering around the booth and Shaun Cassidy and company were just finishing up their signing for "Invasion" so I managed to snap a few pics. After Shaun left the LOST crew was escorted by security to the signing booth. I couldn't believe the crowd nor the hysteria that was taking place. Maggie looked hot, but Josh is one hell of a great looking guy, you should have seen all the girls going nuts over this guy. He is 100% charisma. I finally got my chance to meet both of the stars and I said to Josh, "your best line was when Jack asked "Where's Sawyer?" and you walked up behind him and said, "Right here Jack....***." He cracked up laughing and told his writer that he does get some great lines. I was very, very impressed with him and managed to snap several photos of the LOST group. Later that afternoon we failed to score autograph tickets for the Night Stalker cast, but I did get a couple of nice photos. We closed out our Saturday at the Convention by attending the SERENITY panel and the SONY Pictures Panel. Some nice clips and a very nice time listening to the different stars.
That evening we attended the D'Backs vs Padres game. The new stadium is fantastic and the fireworks after the game were good.
Sunday I had to fly solo. The wife couldn't handle four days of walking the floor so she sent me off on my own. I managed to snag a Julie Benz autograph for my friend and bought a few other items for some regular customers of mine. A very nice Alais figure limited to 150, the holographic Leia and some nice sketchbooks and t-shirts for myself.
I have one regret and that is not coming a day or two ahead so I could take in more of San Diego. I would also advise people who decide to attend next year to stick to a schedule once the events are posted. There is way to much going on and if you want freebies you can't attend the various programs so make-up your mind what it is you want to do and then stick to your plan.

I wasn't there and my information is second-hand, but I hear that Saturday morning at the Inkworks booth was pretty crazy. The original plan was to hand out tickets just after the show opened that would allow ticket holders to return later and enter the autograph line. Unfortunately, it wasn't clear when the show was going to open and then people with exhibitor badges (who were already in the exhibit hall before the doors opened) created a line that would have exhausted our supply of tickets before regular attendees could even get in the door. To help make it more fair for everyone and give fans just entering the hall a shot at getting a ticket, we created a lottery system to distribute the tickets. That meant that some didn't get one, but at least more people had a chance of getting an autograph.

Please let me clarify that in no way am I blaming Inkworks for what happened on Saturday morning. I am well aware that the doors didn't open until 10:30 and Inkworks has no control over that. My wife and I both had a super time and to expect everything to run perfectly would be unreasonable on my part. As I've stated before I am quite pleased with my LOST autographs and my wife has gone crazy over the sketchcard that Tone drew for her. Thumb Up

Arvin: I didn't think that you did Smile. In fact, your comments about what must have been a very frustrating experience were very gracious. However, I thought that there may have been others who wondered about the chaos and why there may have been some last minute changes to our normal San Diego autograph ticket distribution.

Hey Guys
The trip to the Comic Con was the first visit for my Wife and I. As far as the drawing for tickets for the signings after the panels friday was a bust although We did see the Constantine panel. Saturday on the other hand rocked. We didn't get a ticket for the Lost signing but My wife pulled tickets for the Slither/Whisper signings so She still met Josh Holloway. The Aeon Flux signing and The Serenity singings. She had the biggest grin on Her face for that one. I was in the Underworld line I closed my eyes reached in and pulled a ticket. I also lucked out and got an Aoen Flux ticket also and I was not disappointed Charlize Theron and Kate Beckinsale are Beautiful Ladies and very nice as well. We also got to Meet Tom Jane,Rob Zombie and the 4400 and Threshold groups. all in all it was a blast although my feet didn't think so. I hope those who went also had a great time.
