Got in right at 10am, took a while wandering the streets trying to figure out where the heck I was, and bumped into Harris, so we went off walking trying to find some interesting places to go. Ended up heading back to the Hard Rock for lunch, (thanks for lunch, Harris!) and then off to the show. As Harris said, it was surprising how little presence there was from manufacturers, just nothing. The show was even smaller than the last time I was there, about 5 years ago. The celebrity area and artist areas were good, artist alley was quite full and one of the more entertaining areas of the show. Could not keep Harris away from the bloody girl, even though I told him not to make eye contact with people like that!

Though not many dealers, Dave, Tbear, and Derek all had a nice selection of products, so they probably had whatever you might have been looking for regarding recent releases. Harris helped me select some Fantastic Four boxes I brought, I have only opened one so far and I am no longer speaking to Harris, but I may have a change of heart after I open the second box if I get something good!

The rest of the show was mostly toys, and some comics, not too much in the way of freebies, really only one card promo, for "Teddy Scares", which is kind of cool. Other than that, mostly posters or stickers, or a favorite of Harris, business cards!

I had a great time at the show, but it's hard to say what I think about the show overall. I'm glad the card dealers were there, I brought something from each of them, It was good that they were there. Harris did a nice job of taking pictures of everything that was interesting, I would certainly consider going again next year. Thanks again to Dave Moulder for the pass, it was appreciated. Here are some images of a few items from the show:

The first image is the front of the sketchbook I got from Nicole falk, she was very sweet, and pretty, too! She did a cool sketch of Batman for me, and she did a nice sketch of R2-D2 for Harris, but he kept talking about a monkey, but enough said about that! Also pictured is a card I had signed by Emma Caufield, and the front and back of the "Teddy Scares" promo card. The last image is of me trying not to smile with Emma. I think I did a good job!! Thumb Up

Ummm, I think it would take 3 Emma Caulfield waists to equal mine. She was sooooo skinny.

I had a great time today. Met Edward James Olmos(yes I got his autograph, since I cannot afford his autographed trading card,) Michael Hogan, Nikki Clyne, Luciana Carro, Kristanna Loken, Doug Jones, Emma Caulfield and Ted Raimi. They were all very, very nice, and we saw the panel with Emma, and then the Battlestar Galactica Panel.

Thank goodness Dave Moulder and T-Bear were there! I traded sketches with Dave and dipped into his famous loose pack bin and pulled a couple of chase cards. I picked up some BSG Season 4 cards from TBear. I heard Derek was there too, but I must have somehow missed him. I was too busy chasing my wallet, which got so light at one point it started floating. Razz

A great show for the celebrity guests, but nothing much else except the afore-mentioned super duper dealers! But, I had a great time.

Boy am I tired The show was crazy today. I was a litte worried yesterday. People were there, but not spending much money. Today it was packed and the wallets were open. Everyone that requested free passes show up so I was happy to see a bunch of card talk people. Even without the manufactures it was a very busy show. My Wife and Daughter opened up their own booths as a Dealer that was near us upgraded to a bigger booth at the last minute.. So we ended up with 4 10X10 booths. This enabled us to put out even mores card sets and boxes. Hopefully tomorrow sales will be at least 10% of today so that I can make my weekend goal. Usually Sunday is 1/2 of Sat, but with Father's Day being tomorrow who knows what will happen.

Broke down and picked up a case of Ink Archives at the show and opened a box. Nothing super great, but I did get a Margot Kidder from Smallville and a couple of other nice mid level autos. At least it was better than Don and Dan Stanton autos.

Now its time to crash for tomorrow is just a few hours away.

Dave

Hello all. Show was decent flew in and out today, picked up quite a few autos for the charity auction.Spoke to a few artists including Nicole, a pleasure, she is very talented. There were some awesome artists there. Got to see Brian Kong and Tom Hodges, too. This was my first WW Philly show, quite different and nothing to compare it to.
Very little card presence, Dave having the market on them, along with a couple of others.
Even less manufacturers, I was surprised.
Overall, it was a good long day, found a book I needed at a fair price, so that made it for me on a collecting level.
Got done early, left for the airport, took an earlier flight and actually saw daylight coming to an end when I reached Chicago.
(Dave, I figured, I better pass on the Spagetti Warehouse, without my wife being there.)
Well, best of luck to you all on Sunday, safe traveling!
It's late and I'm bushed!
Take care, see you in Chicago!
Paul

Had a great time at the show on Saturday! After braving a rainstorm walking to the convention center from the Speedline, we had a blast. Was nice to finally meet Tom Hodges & Nicole Falk, as well as catch up with Brian Kong. I bought an Army of Darkness graphic novel and autographs from Peter Mayhew and Jerry Lawler, but the highlight was getting this drawing I did of Darth Maul signed by Ray Park! Smile

I enjoyed seeing Harris, Batman, and Jane and the gang. This was the first time I set up at this show.

I think between Dave, Derek, and myself, we had most of the bases covered on the card front.
Dave is still the king at these shows!

TWS, I do not remember what it was about, but Jane said it was your fault! Let me know what that was about. Smile

I forgot to thank Jane and Harris for posting great pictures. I broke my pledge not to spend any money but broke down after seeing Brian Kong's beautiful sketches. It was worth worth it!

Final word from me on this show.

Sunday was SLOW!!!!.

Highlight of the show was selling a toy for $50 profit that I only owned for 10 minutes.

Lowlight of the show was a guy looking for a gift for his sister that cost $25. He paid with a Travelers Check for $100. Luckily my wife is a person that worries. She didn't trust the guy and when I saw him take off for the door I knew something was up. I looked at the check and sure enough it was fake. I took off for the door, flew down the escalator and caught him 2 streets away. Got my money back and the product. Tried to find a cop, but there was none around so he got away.

Forgot I could run that fast, but my legs hurt the next day.

Oh well, Chicago is next.

Dave
