A great show! Thanks again to the Tosers/NSU and The Reighters. Seemed to be a great turnout on Saturday. The promos at the door were fantastic - Dexter, Ghost Whisper, Trading Card Museum, America at War, the two Philly Show promos(Robert Kohlbus & Warren Martineck)and the James Caan Donruss promo, which apparently there weren't too many of.
I picked up promos from the Rittenhouse table of SPIDERMAN CP1, STARGATE HEROES P1 and LOST S 1-5 P10. Rittenhouse was also raffling off their SDCC promos P-1 through P5, which was nice, because I won one. Looking forward to Justice League and Spiderman Archives. Breygent gave out promo packs(one per person) with 6 Ghost Whisperer and 3 Dexter promos inside. I'm really looking forward to Dexter season 3 cards, which Tom told me the target date is December. One day, I'll turn this into a two day affair, but not this time. I enjoyed visiting with everyone(THANKS AGAIN, ED!) My funding was small, but I still managed two great pickups - One from Mr. Warren Martineck - STARBUCK! One card from TWS that I dearly wanted, and he kindly worked with me on it If you look at the 'swatch', it's the lower part of Balthar's face. Thanks Tom. And Dee, thanks for amusing us all with your salty stories! ____________________ Anne Welles - "You've got to climb Mount Everest to reach the Valley of the Dolls." http://www.sketchcollectors.co...lery.php?user_id=180 |

Yeah it was a lot of fun! As always a pleasure to hang out with Jane and the family.
I did pretty well myself. I got one step closer to finishing my Angel collection with the Season 2 A10 Juliet Landau/Drusilla card and I also picked up a Felicia Day/Vi A48 from the Buffy Season 7 at a very reasonable price. Also got an Angel season 3 box which had an auto I already had (A21) and a PW-1 which looked like it might be part of a pocket. It was also great to see everyone again- Harris, TWS, Dee, B&B, Ed and many many more. Just got back from Allentown as well. Thanks to the usual suspects for putting everything together.
Had a great time. Won lots of raffles between the 3 of us (held by Rittenhouse and at the Card Talk Breakfast), saw and talked with lots of friends, noticed a lot of faces missing, got some great deals on promos, and of course picked up as many promos as I could, although several ran out early - Americana II, Trading Card Museum. I had fun handing out the promo of me (P3-T) from the Trading Card Museum. I even was asked to autograph a few... My thanks go out to all of the manufacturers who supported the show, as well as all of the dealers and everyone who attended. Breygent, Rittenhouse, and Topps Online were very generous to have so many promos available and my thanks to Donruss, The Trading Card Museum, and iCardz for the admission exclusives even though they were not present. Rittenhouse had lots of raffles, so I thank them for that as well. And of course to all those that donated items to the raffles at the Card Talk breakfast... Mike. This message has been edited. It was a good show and I thought there was a steady flow of people while I was there on Saturday. The main thing I noticed right away was there was more vintage card dealers set up than any other show I can remember going to. I don't collect them but it's good to see them and plenty of collectors were busy looking through binders. But don't get me wrong there was plenty of newer cards and boxes to spend your money on too.
I got a chance to talk to Warren, Jim and Scott B. I should have asked to get a picture of all the artists together to post here......so much for a late thought. It was good talking to you guys and getting your insight on the hobby. Anyway, I got to see all of Jim Kyle's sketch cards for Spider-man Archives.........they are killer!!! I've only got a case coming but I hope I get one. I also saw some Justice League sketch cards by Warren Martineck which looked just what you'd expect from Warren, fantastic. But since I'm a Marvel guy I didn't ask many questions about it. It was a good show. Talking with the artists and dealers face to face about the hobby was fun and informative. Plus I got some deals on a few sketch cards (thanks Tom Wright) and sealed boxes (thanks Ed W.). Until next show. For those of you that were expecting to see Joey Havlock and his wife Rhonda from The Trading Card Museum at the show on Sunday, Joey ended up at the Emergency Room.
He is still undergoing testing and is doing as well as can be expected. I'm not going to post anything more detailed then that on a public forum.... Mike. This message has been edited. Last edited by: miket999, |

I visited the show on Sunday, so missed out on the Americana and Trading Card Museum promos, but the rest more than made up for it. It was great to see and chat to some familiar faces. Tom Breyer, Warren Martinek, Otis Frampton, Harris of course and many of the dealers and fellow Card Talkers. I got commissions from both Warren (Conan)and Otis (Widevision Princess Leia) and did many a deal. I got one of Mike's promos! I'm still in the USA for another 10 days so hopefully can post a scan of Warren,s sketch on my return along with Otis's if it has reached the UK (he is posting it to me).

Good show with good attendance. One thing I learned in talking to collectors at the show is some people didn't realize this issue's sample web article has completely different content than the one in the magazine. So follow the sample article link on NSU's home page to check out additional Cheap Treats!

Arrived around noon on Saturday with the Headless Horseman, good crowd at the show, walked around and looked over the offerings and took a break for lunch and returned to the show to make our first purchases, some Inkvault boxes, X-Men boxes, some Twilight Zone autos from Dave Moulder and a couple of Kate Bradley sketch cards for my collection. Also picked up an Enchantress commission from Warren, which was nice, I will post a scan later.
Back to the hotel to catch the bus to the Sands Casino, which was a lot of fun, had dinner with Headless, Alan Biegel and Harris at the Irish restaurant in the casino. Headless won some money, I lost some money, but it was a good time and the beer girls were very nice to us. The bus driver had no idea what he was doing, but it provided some entertainment! Back to the hotel to carry on the tomfoolery at Red Robin, Headless, Harris, Alan, Bill DeFranzo, Cverdec, Big Kitty, and myself. Traded Headless a LOST box I pulled from my Inkarchives box for a Hellboy animated box he got from his Inkarchive box. Big mistake. However, it was a fun time and a good way to wrap up the evening. I think the waitress found us quite entertaining. Had to roust up the "I'm always up early" Mr. Horseman in order to get to the Card Talk breakfast, had a good discussion regarding a number of topics that have been discussed quite a bit here on the forum, like fake autographs, Robert from RA discussed a number of things, as did Alan Biegel regarding upcoming articles in NSU. Some nice items were given out during the raffle, including a sealed Topps Clone Wars gravity feed box. As usual, I won nothing. Does anyone have any idea what that egg stuff was we were eating? The only winners there were the people who stayed and ate at the hotel! Back to the show for our final purchases, I got another X-Men box, a New Moon box, and did some trading with Dave Moulder and got a Hermione auto from Half-Blood Prince. Unlike the previous days boxes, I got a nice Dark Phoenix sketch out of my X-Men box and also pulled the 1 in 104 packs bonus card from my New Moon box. I will post the New Moon box breakdown later on today. Time to depart in order to get back home for football! It was good seeing everyone, Harris, Alan, Marlin, Roxanne, Mike Tilford, Bill DeFranzo, Chris and Sherri, Dee, Dave Moulder, Ted Dastick, Jane, TWS, and the rest of the regular crew. I don't know if Harris would say it was good to see Headless, however! It was a great show, I was happy to see the number of people in attendance, and I hope the Casino trip becomes a regular part of the show. See everyone in May! |

The pleasure was all Harris's. Did some great trades with Dave Moulder for some Twilight Zone 50th Anniversary boxes. Of course, one of them only had three autographs. Also, purchased X-Men archives box, nice X-23 Luis Antonio sketch. Got a Harry Potter Memorable Moments 2 box and got a Victor Krum/Igor Karkaroff dual signature card. In my Lost box that I traded with Batboy, I received a Benard auto and Sawyer pieceworks. Enjoyed the show and opening our boxes with everyone at Red Robin. Have plenty of Twilight Zone boxes to open up tonight with Batboy and my brother in law during the football game. ____________________ "Rise up once more, my Dark Avenger! Does anyone else have any photos?
I find I get cranky and out of sorts when I have to miss a Philly show, but seeing photos helps. As commissioner of The Committee for Underused Icons, I bring you the following... ____________________ Golden Age Card Talk member. |

I had another great time at the show! As usual, it was nice to see all the familiar faces again, as well as new ones! I was there on Sunday only, and the show seemed pretty quiet. But I did find a LOT of stuff I needed and filled in a lot of holes. There are still a few dealers I need to get in touch with for some things they didn't bring along to the show.
Also, while the breakfast itself was pretty disappointing (what happened to the original menu?), there was some great conversation and I won a Harry Potter tin courtesy of Headless Horseman. |

And, Ted then promptly gave the Harry Potter tin to me since I didn't win anything and I collect Harry Potter. Thanks Ted!!
I bought the last two autos I needed from Dexter Season 1-2 and picked up a couple of boxes of Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix Update set. I also spent a lot of time talking to the nice folks at the Rittenhouse table about the new Lost set and to Tom Breyer at the Breygent table talking about the new Dexter set. Can't wait for both of those! Thanks to everyone for a great show! |

You got it! I'd rather someone who really likes the set receive it. Forgot to mention.... Deena pulled an auto from one of her complimentary Battlestar Galactica packs from Rittenhouse. When I got home I opened my packs and got a Luciana Carro auto! We were at the hot table. |
