Actually, I think it is an ad for a movie about the world as we know it ending in 2012 based on ancient prophecies.
I got a t-shirt with that phrase from one of the studio booths.

Whoa, I knew something! Eek

That would be awesome! My wife was more excited than me when I told her of the possible move. LOL!

I find it difficult to believe, surely San Diego would go all out to retain the Con as it generates so much Tourism/Income for the City. Is there any offical news from the organisers?

As for needing a larger Convention Centre which someone quoted earlier, How Big does it have to be? There is not enough time to see everything as it is, never mind making it bigger.

That would totally suck. I like the fact that the convention center is right on the water and you can walk to lots of hotels/restaurants.

The solution to almost all of Comic Con's current problems is simple - limit attendance. Instead of 125,000 attendees, limit it to 100,000 - more hotel availability, more room for everyone to be comfortable in the exhibit hall, easier to attend panels, less traffic in the downtown area, less lines and wasted time for attendees, make the con enjoyable for everyone again, like it used to be. If the convention powers that be are truly committed to comics and the arts, and are committed to being a non-profit enterprise, then I think it's something they have to take a look at and seriously consider, for everyone's benefit. It will still be profitable for all the businesses. They got along fine with lesser attendance numbers for years, it's only been the last couple of years that attendance has swelled to current levels.

2012 is the year that Comic Con's current contract with the Convention Center runs out.
That is all.

The Mighty Boosh is the best BBC comedy in years IMO. Something a bit different.....

Very, very funny and well worth watching. Thumb Up

It's also the year that Nostradamus has predict some "end of the world" catastrophe.

Yeah, the banner was viral marketing for the movie 2012 by Roland Emmerich.

100% positive on that.

There has been talk of the Con moving since I started attending 6 years ago. I have heard LA, I have heard Las Vegas. I think San Diego is perfect for it and I hope it stays there simply because of how beautiful the city is.
