The Card talk meeting... Harris WAS there, however i think he has his own Anti-Picture-glare Device which means that any pcture you take of him, instantly blurs.... like mine did... ah well..

Card talkers - you can name yourselves for the benefit of others who don't know you...

Got to the hall just as the doors were opening after a 15 minute walk fighting my way past the cats, golfers, and cooks Smile.

Walked around the stalls spotting quite a few familiar faces both selling and signing.

Picked up a Jennifer Tilly auto from Family Guy and a Lana Lang costume card from Smallville for £5 each Thumb Up.

Noticed a lot of top notch sketch cards from LOTR Masterpieces but sadly at top notch prices too Frown .

Picked up several Lost and Supernatural base sets for £2.50 each for friends unable to attend.

Saw at least two stalls selling what were obviously fake autographs.I thought this show had weeded them all out but they appear to be making a comeback Shake Head.

Highlight for me was meeting one of my childhood heroes,Alan Clarke, who scored the winning goal in the first FA Cup Final I saw in colour(1972).

Overall I thought attendance was down on previous years but that this actually improved things as there was more room to move about.

In the Cardtalk picture I am in the middle of the bottom photo with my bag of goodies at my feet.

Thanks for posting the great pix and stories! Man I doubt that I will ever attend this one with my teeny tiny U.S dollars (now I know how Canada must have felt about their $$)

MEMORABILIA Nov 2006 Report

Apologies for the delay on posting this, my family has been keeping me VERY busy the last few days.

I arrived at Birmingham International Airport at noon (That’s where my national express coach landed).
Quickly found the monorail (Cool and free) and started my loooooong trek to the furthest reaches of the NEC. Naturally the moving walkway was only operating in the opposite direction.

I finally arrived at memorabilia at 12:30.
Quickly found the NSU stall and said hi to Harris, Quaint, Scouse, Paul Hart & Paul Bines. Bought the Elvis variant issue and renewed my sub. I was then presented with a cuddly panda for my daughter, Julie.
Harris got out his communicator and had Patdata beamed in behind me.
Patrick Hamill ( the awesomely talented artist and Patdata’s Secret identity, showed me the commissioned Sketch cards I had ordered. Wait till you lot see these. I will post some on the sketch page soon. But 5 are Christmas prezzies to CardTalkers (Inc my Secret Santa Recipient) so to post them now would spoil the surprise.

Harris and his Posse’ then went off for lunch and I went off to search for a bargain – and I wasn’t disappointed. I soon found 2 LEXX autos I needed for £7.50 the pair.
And at another stall I picked up an Enterprise 4 C09 Degra costume card and a Johanna watts auto.

Shortly after I found Paul Ferry’s (UKPaul) stall. He and his lovely Wife, carol were having a sale and I picked up 3 Wizard of Oz Munchkin autos for a fiver each, card KS Karl Slover, MC1 Mickey Carroll, and (best of all) the Mickey Carroll autographed Chris Henderson Sketch card.

Also picked up from Paul Ferry the Avengers BERNARD CRIBBINS auto card for £5. It’s nice to get a great auto really cheap, but it is also sad when a GREAT British Comedy icon is reduced to just £5.
I also found 7 hard to find Women of Bond, and 1 poster card from the Connoisseur collection. So that filled a few gaps. Just wish I could find the few base cards I’m missing.
Then finally I found, whilst browsing through another dealers trek binder, a page of Star trek cards that (unbelievably) I had never seen before. The seller offered me the sheet for £15 – which I accepted, natch.

Turns out the sheet contained 7 (+ 2 duplicate) wide-vision trek cards that came with some action figures. Dated 1996 produced by Playmates and Skybox.
I’ll have to check out my Card Collective CD-Rom to see how many were in the set. They’ve gotta be worth more than I paid.

With my Wallet almost empty I made my way back to the NSU Stall for the Highlight of the day – The Card Talk gathering.
For the third year running I met up with Rita, people will be staring to talk if we keep meeting like this, and finally met Hammer. Wolfie showed me his Halle Berry Costume card
I showed around my Patrick Hamill Commissioned sketch cards. I think at least two people actually saw their Christmas prezzie but didn’t realise it.
We congregated in a secluded corner behind a large van. Anyone seeing us on CCTV would have though we were drug dealing.
You had the distinct feeling that were hadn’t got permission to be there.

Harris and his Posse’ handed out a selection of promos ( not sure if any were exclusive’s)
Here’s what we had
· Battlestar Galactica Season Two P1
· Buffy Memories Pi
· Hellboy Animated HA-1
· Lost Season 2 LS-1
· Supernatural SN-T & SN1
· Wizard of Oz NSU
· Wizard of Oz Series II NSU

There followed a discussion on ways to improve NSU and CardTalk. Several suggestions were made, however many would say that NSU and cardtalk were already virtually perfect.

The gathering was ended with a round of cardtalk Bingo where we each had to collect Cardtalkers Autographs on a Bingo card. The first 2 with 15 won amazing prizes.

One final wander around the hall and I found the last two Dr Who BIT cards I needed (Thanks to Wolfie), a free set of 10 NCSoft cards featuring characters from Computer Games, and a set of Casino Royale Playing cards with a free $25 Poker Chip.
I then set off on the loooong trek back to my Bus stop near Terminal 1. Guess what, the “moving” walkway was now only working on the OTHER side now.

Finally made it home around 9:30. Remembered the goodie bag the Memorbilia table had given me and rifled through it. It included a Tales of Midnight Greeting type card which when I opened it read
“CONGRATULATIONS” You have won a limited edition print. I had to claim my prize that day at the Beyond Starlight booth.
Oh Well – I MUST actually look at my goodie bag next year.

Still a great day – Looking forward to November 2007

Gotta go now, My daugher wants me to watch a Mr Bean Video with her. Like I said VERY busy.....

Another fun Memorabilia. Sorry that its over for another year.

I'll post a report and some pictures too when I get back next week. I'm on one of those expensive PC's in the airport right now. Just wanted to check in and say thanks everyone for coming to the show and coming by our table. Thanks also for coming to the informal CT Gathering. I think it went pretty well, if I do say so myself, even though we got kicked out of our first location!!! Red Face
