WOW!!!! what a show. Dance

Arrived at 8.30am in the rain and joined the queue to get in.

Harris overslept. Twak Big Grin

Show opened at 9.00, £16 to get in plus £7 to park the car, cheap it ain't. Twak

Found Harris and the NSU table where he relieved me of £5 for some promos. Met up with CSi dave, quaint1, Paul Hart and Patdata.

Dave gave me a fist full of Benchwarmer autographs as a prezzie and i must say thank you very much for these, it was a great way to start the show. Being in a good mood i gave ( note that word ) Patdata some Dr Who cards he needed.

It's good to give. Smile

Off i went around the show searching the tables for that elusive thing called a bargain but after 4 hours i was not doing well. I decided to have a break and gawp at the guests ( like you do ).

Loads of Bond girls were there ( which was nice ), also saw Claudia Christian, Ingrid Pitt, David Carradine, Gerry Anderson and loads more, stars were everywhere, i felt quite at home. Big Grin

The UK Garrison were there with all their star wars costumes and i must say they do look the part. C3PO and R2D2 came up to say hello, word had even reached the droids that i was at the show. Big Grin

Enough of this jollification and onward with the card talk meeting which was held in the back of beyond behind a van, surely the strangest place the event has ever taken place. Harris handed out some promos from Inkworks and Rittenhouse, many thanks to both for these. Clap
There was a short discussion about the magazine and the forum and it was all over.

A big thanks at this point to Lesley W who gave me a bag full of base sets Clap and also Steve J who also traded me some base sets. These will keep me going for ages.

I purchased ( yes thats what i said ) the Teri Garr autograph card from star trek for £15 and there was much rejoicing. Bouncey

A little bit of wolfie selling followed and then the best trade of the day which left me the proud owner of the Halle Berry costume card from Rittenhouse, i think i showed it to just about everyone in the hall, twice. Big Grin

Met up with lots of other cardtalkers and it was great to see everyone again. Wavey

It was a good day for poker chips and i picked up 2 diffrent ones from Casino Royale and a very limited one in a folder for Hammer films.

Just time on my way to the exit to buy ( there's that word again ) the star trek artifex set of 43 cards for £15.

Said goodbye to everyone except Harris who had dissapeared and headed out into the darkness and the rain.

It had been 8 1/2 hours of pleasure and worth every minute. If everyone had as good a time as i did then they will have had a great day.

Thanks again to everyone i met for making it such an enjoyable time. Clap

Lots of photos were being taken so you should get to see these at a later date.

Thats it for now, roll on the next show. Wave

Another week, another convention Big Grin Really only intended to go to this for the Card Talk meeting. One empty wallet later...

The show was well attended considering Manchester last week. There was quite a queue for tickets when I got there at noon, but thanks to Hammer and an absent wife, I had a ticket waiting. Thanks mate Thumb Up Found Harris with Quaint1 who both sprang into action when the rustle of renewed subscription notes were heard Big Grin We had, as Wolfie said, the Card WALK meeting Wink I can't help but feel, and I know I'm not alone in thinking this, we are missing out compared to our US cousins due in no small part to the lack of interest from the organisers of the show. A BIG thank-you to Harris and Paul B for their efforts in making what we had as good as the circumstances allowed Clap Clap Clap
I'm sure at one point, Wolfie done a lap of honour with his only-wanted-by-him Halle Berry card Roll Eyes Got a couple of commissions from Mark dos Santos (nice bloke), got two Harry Potter MM cards and all in all had a really good time.
Great to see so many Card Talkers Dance

Already seems a long time ago but here goes

It was AWFUL weather on the M6 Toll/M42 getting there and we ended up in what looks like a new car park N12 which actually is pretty close to the halls

First stop was to see Ingrid Pitt ( Her birthday was last week and she does look a lot better than last Memorabilia ) - Alas no change so had to leave the Kate O'Mara and now Ingrid Pitt auto'ed photo with Ingrid with a 20 pound note whilst I tried to find smaller notes!

Next to the Corgi "stand" which looked interesting and I did enter the draw for a stand with Bond models on but did not see any cards nor casino chips

Then a tour round - saw Anthony and got a Patrick Hamill Gollum ( OK he still hadn't had time to price these cards since GMEX so he disappeared for a few minutes to sort out the prices Cool ) He was opposite the Animation Art stand which had some great ( if expensive ) items like Count Duckula cells and Roobarb and Custard items too

Saw Ash, PC Trading, McDonalds, my wife saw Richard ( but not Roz ) briefly but we could not find Harris...eventually had to ask at the Informtion point ( I *know* its cheating ) and was told that it was three rows across and nearly level with the "restaurant". So found Harris next to Paul Hart and resubscribed to NSU and bought a LOST variant ( during which Leslie Phillips and Angela Douglas walked by ) by which time Quaint1 and CSIDave both appeared and after comparing LOTR Sketches I was whisked off, via a quick trip to Mark dos Santos's stand, to find the seller of some excellent LOTR sketch cards ...known on here as Rich With Cards ! I was torn between one of RAM's panel cards ( no 12 of 20 I think ), Hamill's Arwen and Hamill's Aragorn and eventually went for the Aragorn.

Most dealers had LOTR Masterpieces sketches on display but Ash had others in a pile in the display case Smile There were a lot less boxes on display for this and no-one seemed to be shelling cards like usual.

Anyway autos next..

Finally had the change and went back to Ingrid to reclaim the O'Mara/Pitt then

Madeline Smith first Luv You and this time she was sorting through LOTS of photos and contact sheets before the main rush started. One of the items I asked her to sign was an image she hadn't got in her collection so she asked if she could have that one...what else could I say but yes but then she did sign the Vampire Lovers promo photo Angel

Another trip around the place as my wife could'nt find any more Lost 1 boxes so went back to Anthony and got another box and pre-ordered a case of Lost 2 for her.

Next back to Valerie Leon Luv You to finally get that Blood from the Mummy's Tomb promo picture of her walking a cat in full egyptian costume - long chat about all shes done with others joining in with other remembered roles like Last of the Summer Wine...forgot she was in "The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer" as well and finally got her to sign the Bond Girls Forever book... next to Mollie Peters who was pleasant to talk with and then via Cherry Gillespie Luv You who was fun and friendly to Maud Adams Luv You who was just as nice as last time I saw her...but she admitted that being just across the aisle from the War of the Worlds stand with the theme blasting out was driving her crazy.

Most surreal moment was the 2 Daleks with 1 singing My Way Roll Eyes

Did not see Wolfie nor Patrick but was told he had been scrutinising all his sketches by all the dealers ( several also were apologising for not having enough LOST 2 promos or sell sheets )

By the way I was the one in the Chris de Burgh T-shirt Cool

Plenty of people queueing well past the main opening time too.

Busier than GMEX but to me it did not seem as busy as last Novembers Memorabilia

Sorry but I do think the Star Wars characters ( UK Garrison plus others ? ) really were over the top and did block aisles from time to time as did the Daleks

Went to Birmingham on Saturday, arrived at hall at 12, met up with Graham and first call was to see harris and the NSU table (Yes I did get the variant BEFORE the regular) also got the convention special subscription rate(that takes me through to 2008!!).

Had a look around the tables (there were quite a lot of card tables) and all seemed to have activity going on, had a nice pint of lager to keep me going and then on to the cardtalk meeting. It was a shame that we couldn't have a proper meet, but (as others have said) we sneaked behind a van in the corner of the show and had a nice 40 minute chat. Well done Harris for doing that and thanks to Inkworks, RA and Brygent for the promo's Thumb Up Much appreciated.

Nice to see harris in the UK again, hope to see him next year as well Smile

It was a day of firsts for me. It was my first convention, the first time I met Harris, the first time I met any card talkers, and the first time I met a Sapphire Card Talker in particular.

I entered the hall at about 9:15 with my father and my nephew, and took a wander around. I'd never seen so many sketches in my life. One sketch did stand out - a beautiful colored sketch by Leah Mangue - A Black Rider against the moonlight (6 from the bottom and four across on Marleyeds website)

I met Jeff Wayne of War of the Worlds fame, he was chatty indeed. Met Sarah Sutton of Dr Who fame, who was also very pleasant.

Picked up some trades with Wolfie and Lesley, thanks very much to them both.

The card talk meeting was very impromptu as we were unable to arrange a proper place for discussion. For the life of me I cannot understand why the people who run Memorabilia do not look after the people who wish to further their cause. I walked past John the Hats stall and John was not a happy bunny, the management had upset him too.

The card talk meeting was very enjoyable. We played a game of Card Talk Bingo; which was a new experience to me. Harris and Paul (Quaint1) handed out some promos, thanks to all concerned.

I bought some UK promos for me and my Secret Santa recipient from UK Paul and also bought some Sell sheets that I was missing.

Thats all really, a very enjoyable day. I left after the Card Talk meeting and drove back to Wales. Smile

Good to see Harris and the gang on the Card Talk stand and renewed my subscription for another year ! Also droped off a few of my UKG cards to those who were there. Smile

Bought a box of the new Dr Who and picked up a Peter Davidson auto ! Smile As Wolfie did I managed to pick up two Casion Rouyale poker chips from the Corgi stand and a couple of Casino Royal playing cards too. Had a good day and got a little Christmas shopping done too.

Hi went both days with my very helpful but very tired wife (can't be easy pushing me and my wheelchair around for two days).
Tried my hand at a case of Lord Of The Rings on Saturday and wish i had not bothered (very disappointing) Shake Head.
Decided to stick to what i know best and purchased a few boxes of Harry Potter today(much better Smile.
I would like to say a big thank you Thumb Up to Harris and everyone for Saturday's cardtalk meeting you made me and my wife very welcome and it was great to put some faces to names.
As for the show itself i thought it was another great show and really enjoyed it,can't wait for the next one.
All the best Phil

I've only just got back, and I'm off to meet Harris again tommorrow (Monday) so I'll have to delay my report and pictures until Tuesday - however, I did want to express my thanks to Harris CSI Date, Patdata, Paul Hart and Gary - and to everyone who came to the NSU stand to say "Hello"!
I got some absolute bargains - but you'll have to wait!
Au Res.,
Paul
