but we did as we were caught up in the motorway queue for over 3hrs because the M6 motorway was shut as a result of an early morning crash as reported here. Once we got to J16 after the grand total of 36 miles covered all morning we simply turned round

SHOW REPORT.
-------------------

New venue for this show and what a nice place it was. Holding the show in a plush hotel instead of a massive half empty hall in the NEC was a great idea and it worked. Thumb Up

I did not get to the show until nearly 11.00 am due to the motorway being closed and being diverted to the NEC via Switzerland. Roll Eyes

Arrived to find the hotel car park full but fortunatly one car came out and i grabbed his space. Thank you sir that will be £8. Roll Eyes

Paid to get into the show, £5, nice price. Thumb Up

This gave access to the Collectormania show and also the Autographica show which was being held in another part of the hotel.

To be honest there was not much of intrest for card collectors, only 2 dealers in attendance, i had a nice chat with Anthony about everything that is going on at the moment and Paul & Dawn from Umbrella Cards who managed to get 26 wolfie pounds out of me. Eek thank you to those dealers for supporting the hobby at this show, the rest of the dealers were the usual toys, photos, posters, models type of things.

Guests were everywhere and it was great to see people i had never seen before in the flesh so to speak.
Guest List included.............

Mickey Rooney
Joan Collins
Ernest Borgnine
George Kennedy
George Lazenby
Caroline Munro
David Warner

and a host of others.

David Morrisey cancelled at the last minute which must have really pleased the promotors having allready lost Gigi Edgley and Cristine Rose.

Also signing and running an auction were the people from NASA, the astronauts seemed to be charging the most for autographs, £75 in one case.
The auction was doing items that had been taken on the moon missions mounted and signed in displays. These were great to see but the prices, WOW!!
How about a costume card with a small piece of netting from the lunar module? When i left that had reached £3500 with the rest of the weekend to go and this was by far not a one off, a lot of the other items were going the same way.

This ended up being a really enjoyable day out and it will be great to go to another show at this venue. Smile
