Preview Night was VERY busy! It was almost as crowded as it will be during the rest of the show. Thankfully, almost all of the booths were open.

As can be expected, the Inkworks booth was a hub-bub of activity. There were sketch cards available and my wife & I each had one done by Tone Rodriguez. I'll have scans when I get back home. In addition to the promo card packs, Inkworks also handed out an unannounced bonus promo card for Jericho. The front of the card is a modified U.S. flag. Pretty cool!

THE hot item, though, was the super cool tote bags being given out by Warner Brothers. These bags are HUGE! They must be at least 3 feet...yes, feet!....deep! The tote bags are promoting the Superman/Doomsday DVD that's coming out.

The Topps booth had some really cool promo cards, including the Paris Hellton in jail card. But if you're looking for the promo cards for Heroes, I was told they'll be available at the Heroes/NBC-Universal booth starting Thursday.

The Artbox booth was pretty slow. They had the usual Harry Potter goodies for sale and I had to specifically ask for a promo card.

I did get the new Encyclopedia of Non-Sport Trading Cards at the Inkworks booth and was able to get it autographed by Marlin, Roxanne and Harris Toser and also Todd Jordan.

Tomorrow should be an extremely hectic but fun day. I'll try to post a report tomorrow night!

By the way, attendees may find the following information of interest:

Comic-Con attendees can receive six promotional Avatar full motion lenticular cards that feature unique scenes from season two's exciting finale at any of the 5 participating booths including Nickelodeon, THQ, Tokyopop, Inkworks and Simon and Schuster. Attendees need to start the journey at the Nickelodeon booth for their first card, follow directions to each participating booth to receive each additional card, and return to the Nickelodeon booth to collect the final 6th card. This last bonus card features exclusive art created by co-creator Bryan Konietzko exclusively for Comic-Con attendees. Some cards include offers ONLY for Comic-Con attendees so it’s a good idea to collect the full set of 6!

My thanks to Uncle Allan for making me aware of these cards! Smile

Those of you who are at the San Diego Comic Con should check at the Inkworks booth each day because there is a possibility that autograph sessions will be added to the schedule.

That is a pretty cool promo card. I'd love to have it - is there anyway that people who didn't or wasn't able to go, can get one?

I ordered two promo packs.. would this card be included?

If I read it right from another site, the Jericho Flag promo card has a card number of JER-2007.

The flag Jericho promo card was not originally intended to be given out at the Inkworks booth (as you probably noticed, there already is a Jericho card in the San Diego promo card pack). However, it was added as a giveaway at the last minute. Since you asked nicely Wink we'll include one with each San Diego Promo Card pack that was ordered (assuming that someone remembers to bring some back to Raleigh! Smile)

Today was mostly spent getting the various promo cards that were available. My wife and I were able to complete the 6 lenticular Avatar promo cards. Card #4 was a challenge to get, as it was very difficult to find the Simon & Shuster booth where the card was available. After you got five of the cards, you returned to the Nickolodeon booth to show the five cards. Then you were given the sixth, final card.

At the Artbox booth, we were able to get the 01 & 02 promo cards for Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. We were also handed a cellophane package containing promo card 01-04 for Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets.

Today was the day to get the Rittenhouse Archives SD07 promo card for The Quotable Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I would have liked to have gotten a couple more, but I honestly could not locate two of the dealers. I even asked various Comic-Con personnel where the booths were and even they couldn't tell me.

I did find Mark’s Non-Sports Cards booth and picked up one of the Rittenhouse promo cards. I was also able to get the DN1 promo card for "Art of Dave Nestler" and the unnumbered promo card for "Conspiracy Files of Dean Haugland (sic)". For some reason, the actor's last name is mispelled as Haugland when it's actually spelled Haglund (at least according to the Internet Movie Database and Inkworks).

At the Heroes booth, you could get Promo 2 of 4 today. (Why it wasn't "1 of 4" being given out, I don't know.) But I can see that the four, different promo cards will fit together to form a single image showing the name of the show and various characters.

I did buy a "The Day the Earth Stood Still" sketch card for the Classic Sci-Fi & Horror Posters set.

I spoke with Brian Kong today and he told me he's doing 50 sketch cards for the Heroes set. He had commission samples of various Heroes characters for sale which showed that his cards for the Heroes set should be outstanding!

This morning at the Inkworks booth, my wife and I were able to meet Amber Benson (Tara) and Adam Busch (Warren) of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, get their autographs and I got my picture taken with both of them.

This evening, Inkworks held the autograph session with Carlton Cuse & Damon Lindelof of "Lost". As we were standing in line to wait, they arrived, after having completed the "Lost" panel. However, there was a special guest with them...Harold Perrineau who played Michael Dawson (and whose character will be appearing in the new season). So, while we were in line to get two autographs, we were able to get three! (Thanks, Inkworks!)

At the Topps booth, they were indeed handing out a zombie mask for their Hollywood Zombies cards. Today's mask was Wacko Jacko. It's actually pretty cool.

Tomorrow morning is the Card Talk Breakfast which should be a lot of fun. I'll take pictures but won't be able to post them until sometime next week.

Well, as the wise and revered philosopher, Porky Pig would say.... "Th-th-th-th-th-that's all, folks!"

Today was an absolute blast! It didn't start off that way, as our shuttle bus never showed up. We wound up taking a cab to the Card Talk Breakfast. (And I actually had to show the cab driver my map of where we wanted to go. Roll Eyes)

The Card Talk Breakfast was incredible! My sincere compliments and gratitude to the Tosers for throwing a wonderful breakfast. The discussions by Topps, Upper Deck and Inkworks were very informative. (Sorry, people, but Topps says the sticker autographs are here to stay. Shake Head) The raffle was VERY good to both my wife Sue and me! She won a pack of original "Man From U.N.C.L.E." cards from Topps! I won a 3-pack package of the original Battlestar Galactica cards, also from Topps! Dance Inkworks gave each family a choice of one of three, different DVD sets (Thanks, Uncle Allan!). By showing your Card Talk ID name sticker to Upper Deck, you were given a complete set of the four, different Marvel Masterpieces promo cards.

When we got to the Convention Center, we tried to get in before 10:00, as we were told we could go get in line for tickets for the Stargate autograph sessions. That wasn't exactly....accurate. So we finally got in and took a chance that tickets might still be available. In this case, it paid to be one of the last ones in line. Toward the end, the volunteers were so fed up, they started handing out winning tickets, so they could end things. We got two tickets for Stargate: Atlantis and two tickets for Stargate: SG-1! Clap

Then we went to the Heroes booth to get today's promo card (3 of 4), but they were out of the Heroes comic.

The MGM booth is right around the corner from the Heroes booth, and we went to try and get the Stargate: Atlantis hats they were giving out. The hats, though, were all gone. BUT...while we were there, Christopher Judge and Amanda Tapping stopped by! So I took a lot of pictures. They even agreed to pose individually with my wife Sue, so that was really cool!

Speaking of Stargate, the panels for both SG-1 and Atlantis were absolutely hysterical!! They should take that show on the road. Michael Shanks wasn't there, but Christopher Judge actually tried to call him on his cell phone. Who answered? Lexa Doig, Michael Shanks' wife! When asked where Michael was, she said he was in the bathroom! LOL As for the Atlantis panel, Jewel Staite was her usual, charming self.

The Inkworks booth was its usual center of activity for all things cool. Sue and I both got sketch cards done; mine was of Doctor Who and Sue's was of Rose. We also got to meet Noel Clarke, Mickey from Doctor Who. Brian and Stewie from Family Guy also stopped by, and I was able to have my picture taken with both of them.

We made the rounds to the various dealers who had today's Rittenhouse Archives card. At Mark’s Non-Sports Cards booth, I was given a different "Conspiracy Files of Dean Haugland" (sic) promo card and the DN2 "Art of Dave Nestler" promo card.

I finally broke down and bought an autographed Darth Vader picture from David Prowse. He was, as always, extremely kind and soft-spoken.

The Hollywood Zombie masks at the Topps booth are terrific. Today's mask was Paris Hellton.

Tomorrow is going to be a zoo! Everyone is going to need a lot of patience...and aspirin. As we'll need to start packing tomorrow night, I'm not sure if I'll have a report then. If not, I'll post a report for both Saturday and Sunday on Monday.
