The show was free. Space was limited to the banquet/meeting rooms of the hotel. And depending on your interests, the guests and comic creators were really, really good or really, really bad.

There wasn't much in terms of non-sports cards. There were a few dealers with sketch cards - nothing memorable. One dealer had a few assorted boxes - again, nothing memorable. Another dealer had quite a few wrestling autograph cards.

My one non-sport pickup was a promo pack of Monsters vs Aliens cards. These were given away. Ginormica is on the front. Gallaxhar is on the back. After searching on ebay, it appears that these cards were also distributed at SDCC 2008.

At a 2 for $1 sale, I picked up 30 back issues of Vertigo titles (Lucifer, Books of Magic and The Dreaming). I also got George RR Martin's Hedge Knight graphic novel for $5.

I got autographs from ex-WWE performers Jackie Haas and Terri Runnels. Jackie signed a mat card. Terri signed a shirt card though she said it felt like the dress she wore when she won the hardcore title.

So that was my Saturday afternoon.

I learned before the show that it would be the final location at the Penn Plaza Pavillion/Pennysylvania Hotel. October's show will be at Pier 94 and operated by Wizard World (www.wizarduniverse.com/bigapple.html). I'm not sad to see the change of venue. But I am a bit skeptical about Pier 94. I've only been there once (for a Sick of it All and Bouncing Souls show Smile) so my impression is that of a club where live bands play. Not exactly a SDCC, NYCC, WW-Philly or Chicago sized con...

I would have brought more, (I was the dealer with the assorted boxes, and sketches, or i assume you mean me) but i was only using a mini-van to bring things, and honestly originally only planned to have comics, and threw the cards in at the last minute because i had some extra room (but not enough for say a comic long box.

There was some talk amongs the dealers to push to have it there again, if possible, and i did hear they were already considering doing it again in December...maybe. However, the date planned in the conversation i heard would conflict with the Pittsburgh Steel City, so if it does happen that weekend I will instead be in P-burg.

Hope you enjoyed the Show!

Someday, within the next two years, I will go to a big NY or Philly or Boston Con. The only one I've been to was in Ithaca NY and that was teeny-tiny. Sometime in the early 1990s. I wish they'd bring it back though. Frown

Anyway... How sad is it that I live in Up-Upstate NY and I've never been to NY City? LOL. I'm 30 for heaven's sake!
