Next edition of this show is less than 2 months away...PLEASE NOTE, for the 1st time the show is on a SATURDAY, November 7...due to the Bucs playing in town on Sunday. A large room of 50 tables...30-40 dealers. Mostly comics and toys...previous shows there have been 2-4 non-sports dealers there including me....Please stop by and say hello as I would love to see/meet Card Talk members!

This is the 3rd show for the new location...Just a short 10 minute drive over the bridge if you are coming from Tampa....closer for those of us in Pinellas!

There are many guests...including Billy Tucci and Santa Claus.....click the link to find out who will be there.

I am located near the front entrance...2 tables of cards, comics, posters and more! I am in the process of trying to get some goodies...Just tell me you saw this on Card Talk and I should have some promos for you! Also, always looking to trade/buy, so bring some stuff and lets deal!

Hope to see you there!!

David

I am sure someone has listed something like this before, but I saw this list in an email promoting another show....sort of a check list of things to bring when coming to a show:

1) COMFORTABLE SHOES - An obvious but often overlooked detail!
2) BACKPACK OR BAG - You need a place to store all of your loot!
3) CASH - Not all places are accepting checks or credit/debit cards & cash is king!
4) LISTS - Bring a comprehensive list of the items you're looking for!
5) SKETCHBOOK & PENS -You never know which artist you'll run into!
6) FOOD & WATER - Keep the reactor fueled!
7) A SWEATER - Just in case! (Probably not in Florida, but you never know.)
8) A CAMERA - Don't be shy about asking for photo opportunities!
9) FRIENDS - It's always more fun with a group of friends.

A good list....what else do you bring when you go to a show??

Here is your show report:

Since 2001 this show has been happening on a Sunday in November...during this time the Bucs have not been in town the day of a show...they were either away or had a bye week. This year that streak ended so promoter Tim Gordon decided to move the show to Saturday. I supported this move, but in hindsight I think it was a mistake....crowd was good, but died around 1PM, probably due to College Football games starting. It was a risk either way, but I feel going forward the show would benefit from staying on Sundays.

Overall sales were down 12% from the last Tampa show and 40% down from Tampa show last November....another indication that the economy is still not back...something we all know. Card sales led all categories with 37% followed by Posters with 32% and Comics a distant 3rd at 18%. Set sales were strong...sales included: various Batman Animated sets, Battle of the Planets, Disney, Garfield, Veronica Mars 1 & 2, Weird Ohs, Tom & Jerry, New Star Trek movie, Justice League Animated, Iron Man Movie and Superman Hologram series. Insert sales were very weak....Charlie & Chocolate Factory, Olivia, various pinups and Bettie Page. Boxes sales were above average....Heroes 1, Indy Jones, Marvel Covers series 2, Marvel 3 (Impel), Return of Superman, and Star Trek (1st Impel series).

This was the last Tampa show of the year, 1st year in the new location. I feel the Minnreg building has more positives than negatives over the previous location and was an overall good move....Hopefully the show will be here for many years to come!

I got to pick up 2 of the guests at the airport on Friday Night. Shi creator Billy Tucci and artist Todd Nauck. Mr. Tucci is one of the nicest guys in the business and it was nice to see him again. This is the 1st time I met Mr. Nauck and it was a pleasure to talk with him. Please support the projects of these 2 great artists!

Show dates for 2010 are: May 2, July 11, and November 7.

I will be setting up at the St. Jude School Fall Festival this weekend...that will be my last show of the year.
