That would be artist Spencer Binkerhoff who did 100 cards.

Sorry for the delay in posting the rest of the day, but ... erm ... we've just got back from the beach. In Suffolk ! In April !!

This is what we opened yesterday:

Art Treasures The Vatican Library (Keepsake Collectibles) - at a Farm shop cafe on our way to my parents
Scooby Doo Mysteries & Monsters (Inkworks)(box#1) - in my parents garden with coffee & cake

Assorted packs of:
Plasm (The River Group)
Jim Warren 2 - More Beyond Bizarre (Comic Images)
William Shatners Tek World (Cardz)
Comics Future Stars 1993 (Majestic)
Deathwatch 2000 (Classic)
- All of these were at a pub alongside the river Waveney

Scooby Doo (Inkworks) (box#2) - on the seafront at Southwold

Coors Collectors cards (Di-Mark Group inc.) - back at my parents house in the evening

It was, as you can see a busy but fun day. We had no spectacular pulls but all enjoyed opening the older style cards (especially my 2 year old son) and I do have a few pics to post if this thread stays open long enough.

Congratulations to everyone & their wonderful finds, and thank you to NSU for another successful OTBD.

Here's to next year !!

Surprisingly, I was one base card short of a set. Frown (Insert joke here....)

Although I've not seen the movie, this apparently was a "Casino Royale" kind of day, as 3 out of 4 premium cards feature that particular movie:

A103 - Clemens Schick as Kratt
A96 - Daniel Andreas as Casino Royale Dealer

RC23 - Ice Palace Blanket from Die Another Day
DC07 - Steven OBanno's Shirt from Casino Royale

Seeing that Open That Box! Day is a non-sport holiday, it MUST be celebrated appropriately! So, here's what every holiday has to have:

Lastly, here's a picture of me with all the goodies:

(Of course, I had to wear my Non-Sport Update shirt and my Inkworks hat!)

Happy Open That Box Day! Wavey

Love the cake Kenny.......Glad you had fun. Hubby lost his job so I couldn't really afford to participate this year. But I love reading everyone's posts. Take care....

I opened 2 boxes - I got a good price on a James Bond in Motion box, and bought a box of Breygent Classic Sci-Fi/Horror posters.

First Box - James Bond in Motion - I was a little disappointed in not getting a full base set and the 4 common hits. On the plus side, I needed one of those common autos, and hit just right on the JB Lenticular chase and got a full set.

(0) Base sets (missing 3 cards) plus dupes
JB Lenticular - JB1, JB2, JB3, JB4, JB5, JB6
Allies - BA28, BA33
Villains - F45, F62, F63
Girls - BG61, BG67, BG69
Costumes - SC03, TC03
Autos - Giannini (FB), A103 Schick (40th)

Second box - Breygent Sci-Fi posters - this one got a little scary. After the first half of the box, I only had 1 chase card and a sketch. When I was down to 4 packs to open, I was still 3 chase cards short of what should be there - but they all came in those last packs!

(1) base set plus dupes
Black Lagoon - 3C, 4C, 5C
The "B" card from all 3 of the 2-card chase sets
Sketch by Matt Busch

We were out of town and it was fun to do this event with my daughter this year.We opened a gravity box of I Carley as this is the set my daughter was spending the most money on.She was able to complete her set and find the last piecework's card to have one from each cast member(Carley's Shirt). We were also able to put together 2 other base sets and nearly another set of the inserts. She had a blast and made me take a ton of pictures I will have figure out how to post them. This is the first year I remembered and planed ahead to do it.Thanks and congrats to everyone that got just what they were looking for.

She made to stop at a Target in KC to look for more packs. She now is looking for Carley's Pants and Freddie Pant's(don't know if they make one or not)

Well, while technically not an OTBD submission, my wife was feeling sorry for me since I didn't pull a sketch from my Star Wars Galaxy 4 retail box. She stopped in Target today and pulled 7 packs from a partial box they had, and guess what..................... Roll Eyes

Brian Kong - Anakin (Clone Wars)

Batman, I can't beleive that you remember the MM2007 Green Goblin Sketch!! It is an amazing sketch, as most of her sketches are. It was one of my most memorable card pulls.

Due to financial circumstances i was unable to get a box i wanted for OTBD . The only thing i had was a box of 1997 BBM SHA Japanese Sumo cards . I only needed 1 insert card from this set to complete so i wasn't going to open this box - planned to sell it on Ebay but no one's buying so i figured i'd go for it . No luck - didn't get the card i needed but did get 4 more inserts and enough cards to make up another base set . Will sell these off and buy a box of what i want for next years OTBD - a long wait but worth it .
Here's a scan of one of the inserts [ hopefully ]
Akebono / American / Hawaiian - the 1st non-Japanese Yokozuno in history . He weighed about #500

Hmmm... I'm seeing that the Sumo image has been removed. And judging from Redemption's reaction, I think I'm relieved. Whew!

Before this thread gets closed for the year, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Harris, his parents, and everyone else who was involved for making Open That Box! Day so enjoyable. This is truly international event to which I look forward every year. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Thanks for a great time! Wavey

My first OTB, but think I opened boxes I wanted to open during the first OTB. Had gotten a case of Bone at blow-out price ($40??) way back and figured worth the gamble to try for a sketch card. Don't expect to get one, but what the heck. Opened 4 or 5 boxes, already forgot, and nothing special. Did pull the medallion card and some mini-sheet box toppers. Got bored and will open the rest another day or year; but cards starting to stick together, so sooner the better.
Then opened a 1996 Coke Phone card box. Had picked one up month or two back as still trying for master set. My luck in that was the retail $1 phone card box and not the $2 hobby box, so no chance in getting what I wanted. Oh well...
