Our user "Damien" has been unable to post for a week or two. He is able to logon and read posts but he is unable to make posts. I asked Groupee if they might be able to help and they said problems of this variety are "highly varied" and thought he should first try and make sure that no pop-up blockers are preventing him from posting. He's tried but that has not helped.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I had another person recently e-mail me to say they are unable to post as well after upgrading their IE and I don't think she ever resolved her problems either...She is now using another PC in their home as a resolution, which is obviously not a great solution (though it works for her).

Anyway, if anyone has any help to offer "Damien" or just wants to say hello, please drop him a note at the e-mail address in his profile. Or you can post tech tips here for him to read.

There could be two problems here. Internet Explorer 8 has had loads of complaints and the fortnightly magazine I get - Computer Active - can see no benifit from upgrading. Also, check the cookies setting. Usually, with an upgrade, all security is set to maximum. This can mean that you can read a site but you haven't accepted the permission to send. Cookies need to be set to "medium".

Can't he restore his computer to the previous version?

IE8 shouldn't be the problem, I recently upgraded and experienced no issues with forum posting. It does sound like something to do with security though. He should check the permissions on the any firewall in use. Lower the security level and see if it makes a difference. He can always put it back.

Also check permissions from his service provider if nothing stands out from his own permissions.

Sometimes cookies are denied and certain websites will not allow you on until your denial is disabled. I delete the cookies myself after viewing.

Redemption's idea of going to the last back up date is good and might work if the problem was caused by some recent change. Of course when you do that everything will revert as far as the programs go.

Try to figure out what program updated or what software was added around the same time as the problem started and that will usually be the culprit.

Just a thought but all these tips maybe very useful but not to damien who if you all remember cannot get onto the site to read them.
