Only opended a couple boxes of my case so far, but this certainly made my evening:

I will post the rest of my pulls tomorrow after I finish breaking the case.

We opened one case. I noticed the cards this time around had a chemical pinesal smell. Why are the sketches in soft sleeves. I am sure if Galaxy 7 packs are in feeder boxes at Target, Walmart and K-mart that I will be seeing people fingering the packs because with the sketches in soft sleeves you can tell which packs they are in. I made the following set. Did not get my base cards in set form yet.

SETS
5 Etched-Foil Sets
4 Foil Sets.

SINGLES
4 Gold Foil Cards
8 Bronze Foil Cards
2 Left Over Etched-Foil Cards
4 Left Over Foil Cards

SKETCHES
Top to Bottom, Left to Right
Jerry Ma ... Jaba
Jenn DePaola 1/6 Puzzle ... Clone Trooper
Irma Ahmed ... Amadala
David Green ... General Grievous
Erik Maell ... Han Solo
Lee Bradley ... Grand Admiral Thrawn (Heir to the Empire)
Jessica Hickman ... Tusken Raider
Unknown Artist ... Ewok

Overall was happy of our pulls, but this was NO Galaxy 6. In Galaxy 6 we pulled 13 Sketch Cards. Now it's back down to 1 per box and I have seen people reporting that they did not get a sketch card in a box. If I were to give this product a grade I would give it a C. Galaxy 6 grade was A+. The base set of this product is great. If I were to make suggestions for Galaxy 8 I would recommend some sort of Box Topper. I like the posters but I think those should be a Case Topper. Box toppers could be 5x7 versions of the base cards and some could be signed by the artists and some random 5x7 Sketch cards. All we can do is put out our opinion and hope Topps takes note of it. Take Care. Have Fun.

i've seen folks on a couple places online talk about how this release doesn't compare to Galaxy 6 because it had more hits per box. but wasn't that because they had to reduce the number of boxes produced because of printing issues, so they inserted 2 (or more) sketches per box. and that's why it quickly hit $130-150 a box. but i could be wrong...

My First Case... Still deciding if there will be others.

Dickey Beers Auto/Tim Proctor Sketch
Shea Standefer: Tenel-Ka
Dennis Budd: Yoda
Kevin Reinke: Young Obi Wan
Randy Siplon: Boba Fett
Lawrence Reynolds: Young Anakin

John P Wales: Mace Windu (Really, I promise)
John Soukup: Padme "Art Card"

Was a bit disappointed with just 1 gold card. Still have one box to open that the sketch has been pulled...

Well, nobody has posted what you get in a box. I can't afford a case -
So, here's my box:
1 set 110 cards, 44 extras
8 Foils of 15
1 Bronze foil
0 Gold or rainbow foils
4 of 6 etched foil
1 sketch of a droid by Cory Hamsher

There is also a nice poster with Darth Maul on it.

Mark McHaley did a great job on the foils, think these would have really looked good on a linen or canvas stock.
Base cards are beautiful, as always, congrats to all the artists who participated in this project.

Wow Eek what an magnificent sketch.

Is it just me or does it look like it is part of a puzzle? I wonder what the rest of it looks like.

It's one of several 4 card puzzles that Sean drew. The left hand adjacent card sold on Ebay on the 15th for a wonderful $750 Eek Eek

I stopped at Toys R Us today and bought some retail packs. If I had known they were $3.99 (not $2.99 as I expected) I probably would not have bought them, although I was fairly happy with what I ended up pulling.

17 packs total, with 14 hits
Base Cards: 104/110 with 2 dupes
1 McHaley Gold Foil Parallel
1 McHaley Bronze Foil Parallel
6 McHaley Foil cards
4 clear cell cards (not even listed on the wrapper)
2 etched foil puzzle cards

1 complete base set & 50 extras
0 foils (I repeat ZERO) Frown
4 etch foils 1,3,4,5 1:6
1 WEIRD color sketch Roll Eyes
1 bronze foil 1:24
...and drum roll please...
8 gold foils 2,3,4,7,8,9,12,15 1:48 Eek

Overall grade C+/C
Pros: base card art(check out #8,25,48,58), use of creative humor(#44,81), and box & wrapper design.
Cons: foil art design, gold foil & sketchagraph odds are too high, and no title card.

OK, I buy that the sketchagraph odds are high.
I don't see a problem with 1:48 on the gold foils, but I do wish they had been numbered like in the past.

But, you don't like the design of the foils? Eek Mark's art is awesome, and it's a nice departure from what previous sets have had (which was getting old IMO).

I regret not ordering any retail after learning that Kevin Graham did the art for the cel cards.

Ed
