Opened two hobby boxes, as follows:

(1st box)
base set - 1 complete, 3 extra cards
tattoos - 6 different
stickers - complete set of 12
blood spitting parallels - 6 different
fire breathing parallels - #66 (11/50), #73 (1/50 Smile)
autograph redemption - none
Kiss klothes - none
printing plates - none

(2nd box)
base set - 1 complete, 7 extra cards
tatoos - 6 different (all but one duplicates from 1st box Frown )
stickers - complete set of 12
blood spitting parallels - 6 different
fire breathing parallels - #60 (40/50), #75 (9/50)
autograph redemption - none
Kiss klothes - none
printing plates - none

I honestly was hoping for more from this set. The pictures of the band were great, especially some of the older 70's stuff, but the information on the cards was nothing new, for the most part. Some of the quotes came (I think) straight from the book included in the CD box set that was released several years ago. Also, the lack of quotes from Peter Criss or Ace Frehley was somewhat of a letdown, but considering their "on again, off again" status with the band, not really surprising.

I was really hoping to pull at least one of the Kiss Klothes inserts, as my stepson and I are both huge fans of the band. Would have been nice to have one of these cards to talk about. Oh, well. Guess I will have to buy one off the auction site if I am to get it, as I won't be buying any more boxes of this product (unless it drops to a ridiculous low price).

As I post this, I am also realizing that I had more cards in the second box than in the first, as evidenced by the 4 extra base cards I had left over. I didn't really count the cards as I opened the packs, but not sure how it happened.

Hobby box is 24 packs of 5 cards, with packs marked "Hobby". Expect 1.07 base card sets of 90 and 1.00 sticker sets of 12 per box, if collation were perfect. Quite often collectors will define a regular set to include the base cards plus stickers, possibly also including the merchandising inserts and the paper box-topping checklist. I'm not a big fan of parallel cards "just for the purpose of inventing an insert but I can enjoy something different. Here, I would have felt better if the parallel Blood-Spitting cards in my two boxes hadn't been two copies of the same 6 cards.

Retail Blaster Boxes have 12 packs of 5 cards. Target packs include a different "high level" parallel set, "KISSed" parallel base cards instead of the Fire-Breathing version, but also 1:20 packs. Press Pass announced that there would be exclusives for Wal-Mart packs but that information is not available.

BOX 1

Base cards (90): 0 sets, 6 short of 1st set, 11 extras.
KISS Stickers (x/12, 1:2 packs): 1 complete set, 1/12 through 12/12
KISS Tattoos (x/18, 1:4 Hobby packs): 2 5 9 11 14 17
KISS Klothes (2; each unnumbered, K#249, I#149, S#99, #?; 1:90 packs): none
Autographed 8x10's (2, # to 50, redemptions 1:900 packs): none
Blood-Spitting Parallel Cards (90, 1:4 packs): 15 22 29 63 82 86
Fire-Breathing Parallel Cards (90, 1:20 Hobby packs): 86 [25/50]
Merchandising Inserts (Binder mail-in offer; Uncut Sheet mail-in offer; Fan Look-Alike Contest): 1 each
Paper Checklist (box-topper): yes

BOX 2

Base cards (90): 0 sets, 2 short of 1st set, 9 extras.
KISS Stickers (x/12, 1:2 packs): 1 complete set, 1/12 through 12/12
KISS Tattoos (x/18, 1:4 Hobby packs): 2 3 5 7 12 14
KISS Klothes (2; each unnumbered, K#249, I#149, S#99, #?; 1:90 packs): none
Autographed 8x10's (2, # to 50, redemptions 1:900 packs): none
Blood-Spitting Parallel Cards (90, 1:4 packs): 15 22 29 63 82 86
Fire-Breathing Parallel Cards (90, 1:20 Hobby packs): 59 [45/50]
Merchandising Inserts (Binder mail-in offer; Uncut Sheet mail-in offer; Fan Look-Alike Contest): 1 each
Paper Checklist (box-topper): yes

Jay, the press release said there would be something exclusive to Wal-Mart. Does your packaging give a hint, like a scarce parallel set that's different from Hobby (Breathing Fire) or Target (KISSed)?

Nope, nothing special noted on my Wal-Mart purchased Blaster boxes; just the basic 90-card set, Kiss Klothes (no odds listed), Autographed 8x10s (no odds), Kiss Stickers (1:2), Kiss Tattoos (1:2), and "Blood-Spitting Parallel (1:4) . The Wal-Mart I picked these up in also had "dispenser boxes" (a large box where you could pull packs from a slot at the bottom one at a time) and these had the same chase cards & odds listed as in my Blaster boxes.

Just opened a blaster box from Wal-Mart, with the following results:

Base cards - 45
Tattoos - 2, 5, 9, 11, 14, 17
Stickers - 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12
Blood parallels - 53, 57, 69
Fire parallels - none
Kiss klothes - none
Autograph redemption - none

My local store also had a box of loose packs, similar to that noted in Jay's post. I may consider purchasing more of the blaster boxes and/or packs this way, depending on how long they stick around.

In what is an obvious backslide from my first post in this thread, I opened another Wal-Mart blaster box Big Grin :

Base cards - 45
Tattoos - 4, 9, 10, 15, 18
Stickers - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Blood parallels - 38, 50, 68
Kiss klothes - none
Autograph redemption - none

Has anyone pulled a memorabilia card or autograph redemption from the retail packs, or am I wasting my time and money buying these?
