Ok, I'll start this one out. It's still a couple days before official release, but RA made it available to select dealers in time for the NY/NJ show, and I picked up a box 'cuz I just couldn't wait

(1) base set plus 75% or so of a second with no repeats
(3) Villians cards (1:14)
(4) Theme Songs (1:10)
(1) Bond Girls are forever (1:40 US)
(2) Autographs - A46 Maria Grazia Cucinotta (limited) and A47 Burt Kwouk

The chase cards are great. The Theme Songs are a glossy finish, and the others have a matte finish that is very nice with the subdued color scheme they used for this set. And they are printed on stock that is heavier/stiffer than the base cards.

Actually, I'm very excited, I just sort of expected one of the vendors who got the advance shipments would have beaten me to it. TWS had (I think) a complete Auto Master Set with him - although I think he said he had to stay up until like 2:00am Thurs night cracking 3 cases to get what he brought with him.

From a delaers perspective it's really irritating to see that cards are released to a select few prior to the actual release date. Rittenhose has made it a point in the past to tell dealers not to sell product prior to the release date and then they give it to SELECT dealers? Totally unfair to all the other dealers out there. I personally spent several thousand dollars on this release to read that others have had it for a week already.

Dealers that are at Shows (which Rittenhouse is at and) which occur the weekend before the official Wed release date of a Rittenhouse product AND have ordered direct from Rittenhouse AND have let them know they (dealers) will be setup up at the show may be able to get the product in advance.

If you're set up at the show, but either ordered through a distributor or didn't let RA know in advance, you're in the same boat as every other person and will receive it just prior or on the release date.

This is to give those dealers some leverage at shows. Before you get more upset, keep in mind that this can backfire as well. If you're a person who has ordered already from a dealer, you may not want to get more boxes at a show or get individual insert cards at a show in case they're in your boxes/cases.

Such was the case for me. My dealer was at the show. But since they were getting their cases from a distributor, I had to wait till this week. (I gotta stop by to pick up my shipment) I wanted to get a Michelle Yeoh autograph card and the Very Limited Roger Moore. But with my luck, if I'd picked them up at the show, they would have been in my first few boxes.

So I doubt that these early shipments will have much impact, as the dealers aren't allowed to sell them in non-show venues early anyways, even if they do sell some at a show. And if they do, that's the last time the dealers will be able to get advance pre-show shipments, and may even lose their dealers status with RA.

{Disclaimer: I have not been nor am I currently a employee of Rittenhouse Archives.]

Well, spare a thought for anyone outside the US who can at the whim of the distribution services for considerably longer after the release date. I've always reckoned it can't be too much fun being an Australian dealer, the amount of time you might have to wait for stuff to ship to you... Big Grin

Okay, before we start, a little background.

My Grandfather passed away in March, the last of my surviving Grandparents. He was a keen collector and had been since the 1950's, and although he never smoked he loved cigarette cards and matchbooks. I've been involved in the process of sorting out and selling some of his collection, a couple of sets of which have been worth a great deal more than I think anyone expected. I was pleasantly surprised when he left me some money in his Will, that I was to spend on my passion for collecting, as he was well aware of how much fun I've had since the 1970's with trading cards. So, I decided I'd buy a couple of cases of what has been my real passion since the Eclipse sets (I can't afford the 1960's one, maybe when the kids have grown up Big Grin) So, I have Bond to open, and happy memories to recall as I do so.

So, on with the breakdowns:

Box One

AUTOS: A47/WA22
VILLAINS: F4/19/20
THEME SONGS: T2/7/8/10
UK CHASE: UK5
VINTAGE BOND: VB4

Box TWO

AUTOS: A44/WA20
VILLAINS: F12/6
THEME SONGS: T3/5/1/9
UK CHASE: UK6

Box THREE

AUTOS: WA25/A30
VILLAINS: F16/14/7
THEME SONGS: T3/7/10/5
UK CHASE: UK1

Box FOUR

AUTOS: A41/WA24
VILLAINS: F3/F9/15
THEME SONGS: T9/1/4/6
UK CHASE: UK8

Box FIVE

AUTOS: A35/WA18
VILLAINS: F5/11/17
THEME SONGS: T2/8/6/4
UK CHASE: UK2
VINTAGE BOND: VB2

Box SIX

AUTOS: WA16/A39
VILLAINS: F13/8/2
THEME SONGS: T5/3/1
UK CHASE: UK9

Box SEVEN

AUTOS: A36/A33
VILLAINS: F9/3/15
THEME SONGS: T8/4/6/2
UK CHASE: UK6
VINTAGE BOND: VB3

Box EIGHT

AUTOS: A40/A38
VILLAINS: F1/10/18
THEME SONGS: T8/2/7/10
UK CHASE: UK3

Box NINE

AUTOS: A48/A47
VILLAINS: F11/17/5
THEME SONGS: T8/10/7
UK CHASE: UK8

Box TEN

AUTOS: A31/A42
VILLAINS: F6/12
THEME SONGS: T4/1/6/9
UK CHASE: UK7
VINTAGE BOND: VB5

Box ELEVEN

AUTOS: A34/A43
VILLAINS: F20/4/19
THEME SONGS: T7/10/5/3
UK CHASE: UK4

Box TWELVE

AUTOS: WA22/A44
VILLAINS: F14/7/16
THEME SONGS: T5/1/3/9
UK CHASE: UK5

So that means I have, from this first Case:

1 Complete UK Chase set
1 Complete Villains chase Set
4 Complete Theme Songs Sets
4 Vintage Bond cards

plus

15 'Normal' Style Autos
7 'Women of Bond' Style autos

of which only 3 are duplicates

I pulled

5 Limited Autos from the main set
6 Limited Autos from the Women of Bond Set
and 1 Very Limited (Madeline Smith)

that leaves 5 Limiteds and 4 Very Limiteds. I Hope I'll be lucky and I'll be able to fill in some of my gaps without too much duplication, but I doubt I'm gonna pull 4 VL cards from the next case Frown

On the up side, the cards are *gorgeous* (especially like the Bond Villains and the Vintage Bond) and I'm betting I'll have a load of stuff to trade with...

Indeed, a fine case, especially with a complete run of Vintage Bond Big Grin

I'm hoping that I can also pull a second Very Limited from case Two, as I've just got *another* Madeline Smith from the latest box I've opened... and thus far, none of the cards I need to finish my run... Frown

I knew the karma would only last so long Big Grin

Final Totals

I've just finished the second case I bought and, under the circumstances, I'm pretty pleased. I've reduced the 'autos needed' tally by only two, but as one of those is a very Limited (WA21 Carey Lowell) I'm pretty happy (the other auto I pulled was the WA17 Michelle Yeoh from the Women of Bond 'series') This means I'm one short for a complete WA run (WA23) and 6 short on the 'main' run, but with a load of Limiteds to (hopefully) cross-trade plus a Very Limited I can hopefully use as currency... Big Grin

Plus, I have two spare sets of Bond Villains, am only two cards short of a second Vintage Bond set, with tons of stuff to trade with. I'll be sorting out what I've got to stick up in the Trading section sometime tomorrow...
