With all due respect, the DA7 is not a card of note. It's a whizz-bang-bibitty-bopitty-boo grail of cards in this set. Congrats Clap

Got my box a little disappointed got a MAggie Thrett auto and a Sulu mirror mirror? But was shorted the dual and a whole pack of cards after I opened all the packs I counted them and then saw that there was only 23 packs? So I went to the website and am mailing the required info and will see what happens, it was really upsetting as this was the first box I bought in a loong time!

It doesn't say - it's just "green tunic" Kirk I believe.

I guess I used the wrong term by calling the DA7 Dual auto a card of note ... especially seeing that it is the top card of the entire set!!

I opened one case:

Case Topper CT2

Autos

Single:
A202 Maggie Thrett (L)
A236 Victor Brandt (L)
A249 Steve Sandor
A250 Robert Phillips
A251 Carolyn Nelson
A253 Morgan Jones
A255 Garth Pillsbury (L)
A257 Brioni Farrell
A258 Sean Morgan (L)
A260 Michael Barrier (L)
A262 David Ross (L)
A264 Diana Muldaur (VL)

Dual:
DA14 Nichelle Nichols & Walter Koenig (VL)
DA21 Anthony Call & Clint Howard x2
DA22 Stewart Moss & Bruce Hyde
DA25 Sherry Jackson & Harry Basch
DA26 Charles Napier & Victor Brandt (VL)
DA28 Charles Napier & Deborah Downey (L) x2
DA29 Susan Howard & Michael Ansara (L)
DA30 Gary Combs & Bobby Clark (L)
DA34 Joseph Ruskin & Steve Sandor x2

(I was expecting at least 1 Extremely Limited card out of the case, but that didn't happen.)

Inserts
Shadowbox - 1 complete set
Tribute - 4 complete sets
Kirk's Epic Battles - 2 complete sets, 6 extras
Mirror, Mirror - 1 complete set, 3 extras

4 cards short of a complete parallel base set
10 complete base card sets. (was expecting 12 complete sets)

I like the base set, although I wish that there had been more hero cards. There are twice as many Villain cards as there are Hero cards (32 hero cards and the rest are Villain cards). I also like the Mirror Mirror cards, as it gives the set a bit more variety. Not that there is anything wrong with the Tribute cards, as they bring a continuity to the various Star Trek TOS series previously released. I'm not sure the Shadowbox cards really worked for me in this set. I like the Shadowbox cards released for the Marvel Greatest Heroes set, but they really didn't seem to have the same impact here. Most of the autograph cards that I pulled were well done (most, but not all). Most were well cropped and of a good resolution.

I was disappointed that I didn't get an extremely limited card from a full case. I also expected 12 complete base card sets. But all-in-all, I would grade this release with a passing grade of B+.

Dan

That's why I decided to go for a master set, I usually purchase a couple of cases of Trek but I've had some poor breaks recently from Rittenhouse cases so thought it was the best way to go.

For the last couple of years my case breaks of Star Trek material that I've done have been quite poor as well and for the most part below quoted insert ratios. Definitely below par and below expectations. I've been thinking about just purchasing a master set, but that takes a lot of the fun out of it, as I enjoy opening up a case and breaking it down. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'll be purchasing a case or a master set for the next Star Trek release.

Even though many of the cases I've broken over the past couple of years have been below quoted insert ratios, I should give credit where it is do. I did get 7 of the Shadowbox cards from my case of Heroes and Villains when the stated ratio was 6 per case.

Box 1072 looked like this:

4 Tribute cards - T38, T44, T46, T49
2 Kirk's Epic Battles - GB4, GB9
1 Mirror, Mirror - MM6
Autograph A250 - Robert Phillips
Dual Autograph DA27 - Victor Brandt & Deborah Downey

Box 2075 looked like this:

4 Tribute cards - T40, T41, T45, T47
2 Kirk's Epic Battles - GB3, GB5
1 Mirror, Mirror - MM9
Autograph A257 - Brioni Farrell
Dual Autograph DA22 - Stewart Moss & Bruce Hyde

Each box had a base set and 8 parallel cards. I found it easier to read the text on the red parallel cards since the print was black.
