I opened my 3 boxes sunday night.

5 parallel cards

2 base sets

1 sketch card by babbitt(?)

2 dud boxes. Thats right, 2 out of 3 boxes had no sketch or auto. Someone else must have gotten the 2 "hot" boxes in the case.

Topps is crushing my card collecting soul. 1st Heroes, then indy heritage, and now this. Heavy sigh...

Oh wait... wrong movie....

Now I'm afraid for the Clone Wars set. Frown

I received that same garbage sketch in my last box and an even bigger bonus, No Crystal Skull parallel.

Way to go Topps.

I got 5 dud boxes (1 & 4) over 2 cases and Topps sent me a form response about the odds being per pack rather than per box/case.
I replied that I was disappointed by their reponse and, given the high chance of dud boxes, I wouldn't be buying any more Topps products.
Some bright spark at Topps sent me exactly the same reponse as the first time. It seems to me that they can't care about customer service if they can't be bothered to personalise the response even slightly.

Picked up another box:

- 1 base set
- 4 foils (#6-9)
- 1 parallel #50 (328/350)
- 1 Jamie Snell puzzle sketch (the image on the RIGHT). Now I just gotta find the other half...

Yay, my case arrived in distant lands. I had already decided not to buy Topps products any more as I am sick of their uneven distribution and high volumes of filler sketches but didn't want to cancel my pre-order as that would leave the dealer in the lurch. Having said that, this is actually a slightly better than stated odds case and is a fine example of what they should be able to do every time (particularly if they replace the two W artists with artists able to do good quality high volume like CDV, Fabbri, Teranishi).

Anyway, breakdown is:
- 13 sets
- Foils (nice cards): 3 sets plus 5 singles
- Skull parallels: 9
By the way, my 'hot box' had double all the inserts, 8 foils and 2 skulls as well as 2 sketches
- 3 autos: Shia, Pasha, Jijikine
- 6 sketches: these are the four good ones
>> Oatney, Dalla Vecchia, Henderson and Sobol respectively

My intention with this case was to get a minimaster and one keeper sketch (which will be the Oatney) so I am well pleased.

Here is my case breakdown. As someone else had done, I had pre-ordered and cancelled the case after the rubbish Indy Heritage release, but paid up later to stop my dealer from being out-of-pocket (and seeing as Topps already had the money).

Box 1
Auto: John Hurt Smile
Foils: 1, 2, 3, 4
Parallel: 67 (202/350)

Box 2
Auto: Igor Jijikine
Foils: 5, 6, 7, 8
Parallel 48 (65/350)

Box 3
Sketch: Woodside (Hannibal Lector) Frown Frown Frown
Foils: 5, 6, 7, 8
Parallel: 77 (263/350)

Box 4 (so-called hot box)
Sketches: Waterhouse (face) Frown Frown Frown, Randy Martinez (Indy)
Foils: 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Parallels: 46 (130/350), 81 (249/350)

Box 5
Auto: Jim Broadbent
Foils: 5, 6, 7, 8
Parallel: 8 (127/350)

Box 6
Sketch: Waterhouse (skull) Frown Frown Frown
Foils: 5, 6, 7, 8
Parallel: None

Box 7
Auto: Pasha Lychnikoff
Foils: 1, 2, 9, 10
Parallel: 65 (221/350)

Box 8
Auto: John Hurt Smile
Foils: 7, 8, 9, 10
Parallel: 9 (224/350)

The Hurt autos saved this case from being a disaster. But that's it with me and Topps now. They are not getting any more of my money.

One LAST box, I promise...or so I keep telling myself:

- 1 base set
- 9 foils
- 2 parallels
- 1 sketch ("Hannibal Lecter" by Woodside) Frown
- 1 autograph (Karen Allen) Thumb Up

So my total tally for half a case of loose boxes was not so bad (4 sketches, 1 auto, 2 foil sets). I was lucky enough to avoid the dud boxes, but not the curse of Waterhouse/Woodside (at least the garbage sketch was somewhat offset by the hot box). Although I probably lost money on this set overall, I feel fortunate to have "survived" this Indy release. It could have been a lot worse.....!

Well, I didn't realize that the Crystal Skull cards were even out yet until I got a shipping notice from my friend that I order my cards from this morning! Smile

Then reading the box breakdowns here, and looking around on ebay, seeing that there is at least a different Karen Allen auto in the retail packs at Target, I HAD to stop by the 1 near my house on the way home and see if there were any left! Right? That's the card collector thing to do isn't it?

So lo and behold they had 1 of the gravity boxes up on their wall, and it had 25 packs in it! I bought them all and figured it would be a nice start to tide me over until the hobby boxes arrived (I have 6 coming).

My wife and I start opening up the packs, and the foil, and peel/reveal cards were pretty plentiful. And on my next to the last pack of my half of cards.... I got a Igor Jijikine auto!

And from looking at the pics on ebay so far, the image is completely different just like the Karen Allen is too!

I will scan it this weekend and post it so everyone can see!

I was sooooo tempted to buy a hobby box after my early retail find but the only card I really want is the John Hurt auto. Luckily I took a quick look at ebay last night and found the card for a $59.99 BIN, the lowest i've ever seen so I went for it. Now I can breathe easy... Smile

Oh, snap! That's awesome! It's great to finally have someone in our little group come across one of the biggies. Congratulations!
