UNLISTED PROMOS PICTURE GUIDE
I am starting this thread with the goal of documenting a pictorial reference guide for promo/prototype /product insert etc.. cards that are NOT listed in PCE. Since PCE was last published in 2008, I would appreciate your including pictures here of cards that were produced until that year and NOT afterwards. Also, because there are literally thousand of cards that are not listed for that period of time, I think that for the sake of clarity and ease of identification, we should limit the posts in this thread to ONLY pictures and descriptions WITHOUT anyone asking questions or commenting. That's my suggestion.
I have started another thread titled UNLISTED PROMOS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS so that anyone who has any question or comment on a particular card, is welcome to ask their question or comment addressed to the person who posted the pic here on that thread.
HERE WE GO! I will list the first card:

I don't personally have this one, so I can't post a scan. But if you do a completed ebay auction search for about 3 months back, you will see it. This promo is not in PCE.

The promo I am talking about is the Will Eisner's The Spirit card from Wizard magazine, back around 1993. I am not talking about the regular one, or the gold slabbed version. Those are both in PCE.

What PCE does not list is the third version, which has a little gold star in the upper corner on the front, and is signed in gold ink by Will Eisner, himself (now deceased) It is also numbered out of 1000

Not sure why so few of these show up, or where it was available. You would think that if there were 1000 out there, you would see them more often on ebay. The ones I have seen all sell for 50-60 dollars

The two gray strips are not on the card. I did that to protect the Phone numbers.

These were also released as promo postcards. They were found in free racks in places like Barnes and Noble. The postcard backs did not have the same info as a space was left to write your message.

I think this was distributed in boxes of MILK AND CHEESE CARDS. They were sold as a set. I guess it was some kind of a promo insert. I remember Sara the artist of the card signed one for me.

Never saw a signed one of these. Cool. I would have loved to have met Eisner. I almost had the chance when he appeared at the MUSEUM OF CARTOON ART but I found out about it a couple weeks too late.

I've seen a bunch of Mardi Gras cards. Not sure if they still do this. It would be an interesting article for NSU. How many were made, what years, and a checklist.

The link is broken but I've seen this card though only on an uncut sheet. Was it ever released as a single?

Jess
