KennywoodPromo Card Existence
Perhaps we could use this thread to see if certain promo cards actually exist.
For example...
In the Portfolio 1993 (
Portfolio International),
Jeff Allender's House of Checklists lists the following promo cards:
1 of 5 - Kelly Emberg
2 of 5 - Wendy Welch
3 of 5 - Alecia Guzman
4 of 5 - Announcing Portfolio 1993
Yet there is no mention of promo card 5 of 5. I have the four mentioned above, but does promo card 5 of 5 exist? It's odd that the other cards would specifically state "of 5" without the fifth card being released.

wolfie5 of 5 is the Steffi Graf promo i think. It was inserted in the cases at an undetermined ratio.
It is mentioned in the checklist just above where you are looking.

catskilleagleHi Wolfie,
In a 1999 NSU price guide I've kept for reference the insertion ratio is listed as one per case. That was when Bill DeFranzo was the promo pricing specialist. It's the same ratio listed in a 1995 NSU price guide when Bill Mullins was the promo pricing specialist.
Allender notes the 1 per case ratio but also a conflicting one of 1 per 5 cases. Todd Jordan had the latter in his 2008 Promo Card Encyclopedia and that may be the source of Allender's figure.
That card maxed out in value at around $25 maybe 12-15 years ago. If it were rarer than one per case, I would think the value would have been higher by that time. Maybe other members here have opened a case at some point or known someone who has.

wolfieThanks Jess.
It seems to be a question that nobody was ever sure about, 1 per case, 1 per 5 cases, i've seen other ones mentioned as well.
I don't see them very often and as for the autograph never seen one or know anyone who has.

JOHN LEVITTI do have the P5 card somewhere, I will do my utmost to find it but I can't guarantee when that would be. I was given it by someone who had several, but whether it has been autographed I cannot remember. All I can remember about the day I received it, was that it was at a London card show and that the dealer kept them in an odds and sods box that they had hanging around for several shows.
regards
John
