Went to see Harry Potter last night at the Odeon, and on the postcard rack they have a 5-card set for GI Joe.

Most of the theatres in my area that used to have postcard racks took them down. I miss them a lot. Used to get quite a lot of neat things...

The GI Joe one sounds great.

A postcard rack at a movie theatre??? I have NEVER heard of that!!! Can someone please explain that one to me?? I consider myself to be pretty savvy about all things movie-related, but this is a new one on me.....

Geoff,

This is in the UK at Odeon cinemas. Not sure if they have them in other chains.

But they have postcards sometimes proming upcoming films - there was a lovely Serenity set. Sometimes they are for TV programmes, when I picked up the GI Joe set there were also a few cards promoing books. Sometimes they are for completely random stuff that you wouldn't be interested in, in a million years.

The postcard racks that I have seen sometimes had movie postcards, tv show postcards, and product postcards.

The most popular postcards that I ever found there was the 3 starring ladies form Melrose Place in red lingere, and the Lost In Space Robot holding an Altoids tin. At the time I took healthy stacks of both and sold tons of them on Ebay for fairly healthy dollars.

The theatre was a National Amusements theatre I believe. They have since taken the rack down which is a shame.

Thats funny! I remember those postcard racks... I found the same Melrose and LIS cards here in Dallas. Still have a short stack of each too. Wink

Rack cards were at one time all over the place but it's rare to find them now. I do have thousands of rack cards for trade. I have lists in many categories- film, TV, celebrity, advertising, music and more. I will trade racks for racks or racks for regular trading cards.
Write for my lists.

Not quite a million but close. I never tried shaving with them but I did get a nasty paper cut with one once.
