CALLING ALL SKETCH ARTISTS!!! Happy Jack Collectibles is coming out with a "Sketch Artist" Promotional Trading Card Series limited to only 500!!! The series is mainly meant to promote the Sketch Artist themselves. And on the back of each card will be a brief description of the artist along with possible other works and their contact information. Over 20 artists have already started making sketches and there will be many more to follow as the series will never end!

If you are a sketch card artist, either professional or just starting out, and would like to be a part of this great set, just send an e-mail to the e-mail address in my profile for more information.

Aren't sketch cards just too cool! I Love them!
Thanks everyone!

Feel free to reply with what you think!

This is a fantastic idea, and I hope you get all the help you need. You can try the Scoundrel Art community, I am sure they will give you plenty of help.

It's interesting that Inkworks sketch card artists have their biographies on the backs of cards while Topps have nothing.

A set of cards would make a real nice reference set. Put me down for a set.

Thank you Happy Jack

If you find you do not get enough response it may well be worth contacting a couple of the recent card companies who produced sketches as I believe the Monkey is now available for commissions. (just kidding).

Good luck with your endeavour.

Hey Happy, good luck with that, it's something we have been toying with for a while (with a few differences) I would suggest you be very careful what subjects and topics you have the artists draw however because licensed property's can be difficult, and if you release a set that infringes another property you could find your whole set pulled. Thats probably the only major issue to overcome. I have been in contact with a number of sketch artists in the recent past so feel free to drop me a mail and I can forward some of there details to you. What is the subject matter your set will be covering?

The cards are going to be given away as promos, and are going to be of several "non-copyrighted" characters. There will be a few copyrighted surprises, but all gotten with permission. So no worries! Thanks

DEADLINE FOR THE SKETCHES IS JULY 15th!!!

I just wanted to let all the artists know that the sketch artist card series will be featured in the next Cardcast podcast, featuring reports and interviews from the non-sport trading card world.

I also wanted the participating artists to know that the deadline is July 15th, in order to be one of the first ones in the series. You can still send one in after, but it would be printed after the first series of cards.

Thanks!
Billy

OK, it looks like Ted (who is one of the artists by the way) would like some details, so here goes.

The cards will be given away randomly with each item purchased from Happy Jack in the month of September! So for instance, if you bought 5 items, you would get 5 different random Sketch Artist promo cards for free. So far the total number is 8, but new cards are being added regularly by new artist who want to be a part of the ongoing series.

Hope that clears up any questions.

Thanks,
Happy Jack

Actually, I think Ted's message was directed to Barrie and Barrie's announcement of a similar sketch driven set. But thanks for your info too!

I don't get this thread. The set's supposed to promote the sketch artists?

Who are doing the sketches? This sounds more like a promotion for whatever is being sold. Is this in the right Topic?

Yes, the cards promote the sketch artists, they are simply being given away from Happy Jack. Some of the artist include Nick (Nik) Neocleous, Adam Cline, Ted Dastick and Randi LeeAnn to name a few. And is open to whoever wants to participate.

Hope that clears things up! Thumb Up

So lets see if I get this right....

YOU as "Happy Jack" are going to give away reproductions of cards you had commissioned from sketch artists, but not the actual sketches. And only in conjunction with another purchase from your assumed retail arm also called "Happy Jack"?

You seem to be calling them Promo Cards which I would guess means that eventually there would be a set of cards, or is that simply promo as in promoting your goods and on the back of the cards the artists who drew them? In what way are they limited? are they numbered? Why only 8 cards, I thought you said you had like 20 artists working for you on this set...

I am confused.
